MARC MARQUEZ CLAIMS 12TH SPRINT VICTORY OF THE SEASON IN AUSTRIA
Championship leader Marc Marquez further extended his advantage over his brother Alex, claiming the Sprint win at the Red Bull Ring.
Starting from fourth, Marquez leapt up into second at the start, and remained close behind Alex Marquez, who snatched the lead from polesitter Marco Bezzecchi off the line.
Pedro Acosta launched into fourth at the start, and made a gutsy move past Bezzecchi on lap two, clinching the third-place spot for his second consecutive Sprint podium.
Marquez's Ducati teammate Francesco Bagnaia suffered a very poor start, wheelspin dropping him right down the pack. He later retired from the race.
Trackhouse's Raul Fernandez made a promising start, progressing from ninth to fifth. He battled with Brad Binder for the spot, the South African rider coming out on top. Fernandez later retired from a suspected ride height device issue.

MARC MARQUEZ: DIFFICULT TO BE CLOSE TO ALEX
After starting from the second row of the grid, Marc Marquez shot into second at the start of the Austrian Sprint, before overtaking his brother Alex for the lead to take the race victory.
Marquez said: "The mistake of the Quali penalised a bit the race, because I was super consistent on the start and then I was able to be second.
"But I saw immediately that it was quite difficult to be close to Alex.

ALEX MARQUEZ: REALLY HAPPY TO COME BACK LIKE THIS AFTER THE SUMMER BREAK
Gresini rider Alex Marquez claimed second in the Austrian Sprint, finishing behind winner Marc Marquez and ahead of KTM's Pedro Acosta.
Marquez said: "I'm super happy.
"Today, I had quite a clear target, [which] was starting well and then pushing the Sprint race.
"So it was quite good. Marc, obviously, [was] behind, and I know that he was faster than me.
"I did a mistake out of 2B and he overtook me, and then nothing more to do.
"But at the end, we were there. We have a great level again, so I'm really happy to come back like this after the summer break."

PEDRO ACOSTA: WE NEED TO BE SUPER HAPPY
Red Bull KTM rider Pedro Acosta claimed his second consecutive Sprint podium, finishing third behind Alex Marquez in second and victor Marc Marquez.
Acosta said: "From 2023, I was not on the podium in the [Red Bull] Ring.
"To see all this crowd... I mean, maybe they're more happy even with a podium than with a victory!
"We need to be super happy. It was tough not to match in qualifying but we made a super plan with the team and we are working quite well in the last couple of GPs for this.
"We need to keep rolling this mood!"
