Moto GP news - Valentino Rossi misses out on top spot to Marquez in Thailand Grand Prix qualifying
Valentino Rossi narrowly missed out on his second pole of the season on Saturday, coming in second just 0.011 of a second behind Repsol Honda Team’s Marc Marquez in qualifying for the Thailand Grand Prix.
However, the Italian took the result well, and focussed on the positives after a disappointing qualifying round in Aragon the week before.
He said: “When you lose the pole position to a small difference, it’s always a shame.
“But it’s more like good news than bad news because last week, in Aragon, I started 18th, now I’m second.”
Andrea Dovizioso came in third, while Rossi’s teammate Maverick Vinales secured P4 to give Movistar Yamaha Moto GP’s team a strong start on Sunday.
Rossi added: “This weekend, I feel good with the bike since Friday. Today, together with the team, we followed the right way. We were able to improve the balance of the bike.”
