Conway lost her last 16 tie as the Dutch judoka was declared the winner by waza-ari – and teammate Winston Gordon also exited as Team GB’s poor performance in judo continued.
Bristol-born Conway, who is in a relationship with fellow British judoka Euan Burton, was full of praise for the enthusiastic home crowd for their support.
“The crowd have been amazing, I hope they carry on for the rest of the team. I’ve never heard support like it,” said the 25-year-old, who finished seventh in this April’s European Championships.
“I knew I was going into a hard fight, she’s a world class player. I was hoping for a win, I thought I was ready. I’m happy, but I came here to win, so I’m disappointed.”
Of the 14 British judokas in London 2012, ten have now exited the competition – but Conway started the day in fine form as she dispatched Chad’s Carine Ngarlemdana in the round of 32.
However the tie against the heavily-tipped Bosch proved too much for Conway as the Dutch judoka, who won silver in Athens, ended her Olympic dream with a solid, if unspectacular, performance.
Gordon, who at 35 is the oldest member of the British judo team for London 2012, fell to defeat at the same stage as he exited the last 16 with defeat to Kirill Denisov in the -90kg category.
There was little to choose between the two but the 24-year-old Russian did enough to secure the win as Gordon exited London 2012 to warm applause from the home crowd.
Gordon had earlier clinched a somewhat unexpected win over Canada’s Alexandre Emond by ippon in the round of 32, but couldn’t build on it as his exit leaves just four British judokas left in the competition.
