After a very poor opening period, in which the vociferous crowd had very little to shout about, the match came to life in the second period.
Tunisia were inspired, mainly thanks to the heroics of their goalkeeper Missaoui, who successfully shut out 21 of the 41 shots aimed at his goal.
At 24-18, the Danes made a brief comeback. But once again it was Missaoui to the rescue; the Tunisian shot-stopper making a huge penalty save from the Danish star Kristiansen.
The Danes's heads dropped visibly as it became clear that it wasn't to be their night.
YOUNG RUSSIANS SHINE
Earlier on, a youthful Russian side showed why they are being touted as an emerging force as they claimed a convincing 29-22 win over Iceland.
Their victory was only slightly marred by an injury to Kostygov, who hurt his left knee and left the field in obvious pain.
