LIV Golf CEO Scott O'Neil confirms investment agreement to take tour into 'next era' following 2026 season

LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil has confirmed that the tour has an agreement in place with new investors to keep it running beyond the 2026 season. O’Neil was speaking ahead of this week's LIV Golf event in New York.

There has been speculation over the future of LIV Golf with Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) set to stop its funding following the current season.
However, a new deal has now been agreed to take the tour into its ”next era”.
”LIV Golf has an agreement in place with a lead investor, signed by the investor and approved by the board, to anchor the transaction and play a key role in supporting the path forward for the league’s next era, driven by and for the players,’’ said O’Neil.
”We’re also seeing strong interest from more than a dozen additional parties to potentially serve as minority investors, creating a multi-partner model built for long-term stability and growth.”
Under the proposed new structure, players will own majority equity stakes in the league.
Players are continuing to engage in the process, with Bryson DeChambeau among those involved in talks in New York this week.
The 2026 season has seen record-breaking attendances for LIV Golf driven by nationally-aligned teams.
More than 115,000 fans turned out in Adelaide – the highest-ever crowd for a golf event in Australia – fuelled by the all-Australian Ripper GC line-up.
The all-South African Southern Guards GC helped draw over 100,000 spectators in their home nation, also a national record.
The league's roster features major winners such as DeChambeau and Dustin Johnson.
LIV golfer Richard Bland said this week: ”We’re in this together. We’re fully backing Scott.
”I think probably in the next two to three weeks we’ll have a bigger picture. We’re just in that kind of stage at the minute that we’re positive with what’s going on, but we just need everything to be fully signed off so you can go forward.”
There are three events remaining on the 2026 LIV Golf schedule, starting in New York this week from August 6.
The tour then heads to Indianapolis (August 20-23) before finishing in Michigan (August 27-30).
