Johnson accidentally struck the ball on the 13th tee while going through his pre-shot routine during the second round of the Masters.
The 2007 champion was practising his swing, but he ended up getting a little too close and clipped it which ended up bouncing off a tee marker.
Despite his pride being hurt, Johnson did not incur a penalty and he ended up making a birdie.
Speaking about the incident, Johnson said:
Playing partner Ian Poulter revealed he was a little bit ‘shocked’, although he admitted he didn’t actually see what happened as he was getting a drink out of his bag.
Matt Kuchar, who also appeared in the group, wouldn’t let Johnson forget his gaffe.
He said: “That was a first. I thought I'd done it all, but now I know I have.”
But Johnson is adamant he will not the suffer the same misfortune on Saturday, as he said: “I don’t think I could do it again if I even tried.”
Johnson just made the cut and he is at three over par.
