LIV Golf Adelaide recap - Anthony Kim wins first event since 2010, finishing three strokes ahead of reigning champ Jon Rahm

One of the great ends to a golf event was seen as Anthony Kim's redemption story gripped Adelaide - not at all what was expected going in, as Bryson DeChambeau fell away early and Jon Rahm was blown away by third playing partner Kim, who hit an incredible nine-under par 63 on the final day to win by three shots on 23-under par. 'I just wanted to take it all in' - Emotional Kim reflects on incredible LIV Golf Adelaide win

Anthony Kim produced one of the great golf redemption stories to win LIV Golf Adelaide - his first tournament victory since 2010.
After being tipped as a potential heir to Tiger Woods as a young player, Kim's career was jolted by an Achilles injury and addiction issues - leading him to not pick up a club for over a decade.
He returned to LIV Golf in 2024, but fell out of the tour at the end of last year, having to re-qualify.
Prior to this week, he was recruited to 4Aces and showed the wisdom of this decision by producing one of the great final rounds in the tour's history.
The day began with anticipation high for a head-to-head battle between Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau, with their third playing partner Kim, an afterthought at best, two shots behind.
Early bogeys from DeChambeau seemed to set up a procession for Rahm and he was four clear after the sixth.
But with Rahm not able to improve his score, Kim closed in with birdies on the seventh and ninth, before four consecutive birdies put him in front, and another on the 17th made his walk down the last a joyful moment.
A fine effort from Marc Leishman, hitting a seven-under 65, helped lift Ripper to their second consecutive team victory - leading to shoeys galore, with each player drinking champagne out of their golf shoe to celebrate.

Kim: I always believed the day would come

"I always believed that this day would come, but for it to happen is incredible," Kim told TNT Sports.
"I just wanted to take it all in. In my 20s I wasn't able to take it all in. For anyone that's struggling, just fight, you can get through anything.
"I've had to change my game with my ten surgeries. I've worked at it and got here."

Kim wins LIV Golf Adelaide!

"One of the great comeback stories in any sport," says Arlo White.
He pars the last to win by three strokes, after a nine-under par 63.

Ripper win the Teams Event...Again

They took the first in Riyadh and they have won once more here. Rahm had to hole his second for Legion XIII to level with them. Marc Leishman's 65 their key to victory on the final day but, as always seems to be the case, all of them delivered. Herbert and Smylie hit 69s and Smith a 70.
There will be drinking from boots.

Huge cheer for Kim as he hits the green

"British Open like scenes," David Feherty says as the crowd rush to surround the 18th.

Kim birdies the 17th!

It was a ten foot putt but as those go it was a difficult one with a big left-to-right break but he sinks it and shrieks with delight - as do the crowd. Rahm makes a par. That should be it.

Rahm sinks birdie to go two behind

With two to play! Remember how close he came to reeling in Smylie on the final two holes last week? Kim holes a clutch five-footer for par to ensure the lead remains two.

Huge Leishman putt on 18th puts Ripper in front

It leaves him on 15-under, but more importantly in terms of the team competition, Ripper are one-clear of Rahm's Legion XIII.

Unbelievable!

Four birdies on the spin for Kim! He is three up, with three to play.
"He is not just leading, he is running away with it," commentator Arlo White says.

Hatton bogeys the 17th

That ends his slim chances of victory in Adelaide.

Kim goes two clear

A 15-footer this time, on the 14th, gives him his third birdie in succession, his seventh in all. This is one of the most extraordinary final rounds you'll see.

Kim takes the lead

He sinks a ten-footer on the 13th to lead the tournament, as Rahm's putt of a similar length slides just by.

Disappointing approach from Hatton to 15th

His iron is just short of the green, leaving him a long putt, which he puts close and then pars, but a chance missed.

Kim goes level with Rahm

He sinks a 15-footer to go level with the Spaniard. What a finish we have in store. DeChambeau hit a better tee shot but misses a tricky left-to-right putt.

Hatton is up to 18-under

A fine tee shot gives him the chance for birdie on the 14th and he makes no mistake.

Bryson is back!

Rumours of his demise were greatly exaggerated. After his poor front nine, he goes back-to-back birdies with a 20 foot putt across the 11th green. He is two shots off the lead.

Hatton so close to an eagle

His long putt stops just short of the hole, but the birdie lifts him back to -17.

Rahm three putts

He still gets par on the tenth, but you don't see that very often. DeChambeau gets a birdie which he hopes will herald a better back nine.

Herbert up to 18-under

You get the feeling more are still following Cam Smith. They should move over to his Ripper team-mate after his fifth birdie of the day on the tenth.

Kim is now one shot back

What a fairy-tale story this could be. He makes his fourth birdie of the day on the ninth, while Rahm can only hit par. After 12 years out of the game prior to joining LIV Golf in 2024, then having to re-qualify for LIV 2026, this would be an incredible story.

Rahm bogeys eighth

This time he does pay for a wild tee shot with a poor lie not able to get his second anywhere near the green. The lead is down to two. It is unlikely to be the Rahm-DeChambeau tussle we expected, but we may well have a game on now.

Herbert and Kim move within three of lead

Herbert birdies the par-four eighth, while Kim taps in for a four at the par-five seventh - which saw Rahm scramble for par after a wild drive. DeChambeau went one worse, after a similarly bad drive and missed short putt.

Hatton up to 15-under

That's his third birdie today and his is now in fifth spot after birdieing the seventh.

It is a different DeChambeau today

Putting from off the green on the sixth, he left himself 15 foot past the hole. He then missed the par putt. So Rahm is now four clear of Kim and DeChambeau.

Kim goes third place alone

Of the final three, he is playing the best golf at present. AK's wonderful tee shot gives him an eight-footer for birdie.

Poulter so close to hole in one on 12

There was almost an almighty roar as the shot was inches from dropping in.

Rahm goes three-up

He drove to the green-side bunker on the fourth and then a fine bunker shot gave him a putt for birdie, which he sank.
Kim also birdied the fourth to join Smith on -15.

Smith is charging again

If Rahm also drops shots, the noise in Adelaide will be heard over in Smith's native Brisbane. he has now birdied the third and fourth to go third on 15-under.
Hatton also made consecutive birdies to move to -14.

Another bogey from Bryson

Rahm began bogey-bogey in the third round and now DeChambeau has done the same, this time on holes two and three. A wild tee shot put him in trouble on three.

Early bogey from Bryson

Rahm takes the solo lead without any great input from himself, as DeChambeau's bogey puts the Spaniard one ahead. He was just short of the green and it spun back into the bunker - unlike him he failed to get up and down.

The shotgun start is underway...
