'I love the zimmer frame!' - Marielle Berger Sabbatel dons fancy dress for retirement run and podium at Gallivare

France's Marielle Berger Sabbatel caught the eye in a special retirement run during the final World Cup race of the season, holding a zimmer frame and wearing a grey wig. Sabbatel, 36, is certainly not an OAP just yet, as she brought to an end a 15-year career by finishing second in Gallivare, Sweden. Fellow retiree Yanick Gunsch wore a lederhosen for his farewell run.

Marielle Berger Sabbatel made light of her retirement from freestyle skiing at the final World Cup race of the season in Gallivare, wearing a grey wig, flowery dress and holding a zimmer frame during a final farewell run.
The 36-year-old was joined by Italian Yanick Gunsch, who wore a Lederhosen, and Swiss pair Romain Detraz and Jonas Lenherr.
It was a strong end for Sabbatel, who finished second in the final race before enjoying one last run.
"I love this, I absolutely love the zimmer frame!" said Emily Sarsfield on TNT Sports commentary.
"She actually really suits this outfit. Marielle, you are looking on top form. Marielle's outfit absolutely tops it for me.
"The fact that she's doing the ski cross with no goggles and a pair of spectacles on, I wouldn't fancy being in that position."
"At least it's not snowing," fellow commentator Ed Drake replied.

Impressively, Sabbatel navigated the course well, all while holding the zimmer frame, until the athletes came together and held each other's hands to cross the finish line.
"Without goggles, her eyes are going to be streaming," said Sarsfield.
"This sport, absolutely phenomenal. It's an extreme sport, you're putting yourself at risk, and everyone really respects one another, and there's a lot of camaraderie there."
Sabbatel even wore her outfit, zimmer frame included, on the podium having taken second place.
