Red Bull have sacked Christian Horner after 20 years as team principal and have replaced him with Laurent Mekies. The 51-year-old oversaw an incredible period of success at the Milton Keynes-based Formula 1 team, helping them win six Constructors' and eight Drivers' Championships since taking charge in 2005. Mekies has previously taken charge of the Racing Bulls team.

Christian Horner has been sacked from his role as Red Bull Racing's team principal after 20 years in the position.
The 51-year-old has led the Milton Keynes-based Formula 1 team to six Constructors' and eight Drivers' Championships since taking charge in 2005.
Red Bull Racing have announced that Laurent Mekies will step into the role in his place, having previously overseen the Racing Bulls team.
Red Bull managing director Oliver Mintzlaff thanked Horner for his role in taking Red Bull Racing to the top of Formula 1.
"We would like to thank Christian Horner for his exceptional work over the last 20 years," he said.
"With his tireless commitment, experience, expertise and innovative thinking, he has been instrumental in establishing Red Bull Racing as one of the most successful and attractive teams in Formula 1.
"Thank you for everything, Christian, and you will forever remain an important part of our team history."
Horner is the latest big name to leave Red Bull Racing in the last two years, with sporting director Jonathan Wheatley joining Sauber and designer Adrian Newey moving to Aston Martin.
The team have suffered through a difficult season so far and are currently fourth in the Constructors' standings.
Red Bull's Max Verstappen has won the last four Drivers' Championships, but he is currently third in the standings behind McLaren duo Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris.
Horner was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire [OBE] in The Queen's 2013 Birthday Honours for services to motorsport.
He was subsequently made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire [CBE] during the 2024 New Year Honours.
