Lewis Hamilton wins in Spain as Mercedes dominance continues

Lewis Hamilton has won the Spanish Grand Prix, sealing his third race win from five in the 2019 season.

The Brit, who is hoping to win his third straight Formula One World Championship, started the race in second position with his Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas on pole.
However, he overtook the Finn during the second lap and led the race from thereon in, and in addition to his race win, he secures an extra point for the fastest lap.
Bottas eventually finished second, keeping up his team’s record of having recorded one-two finishes in every Grand Prix in the 2019 season.
"I have to put it down to this incredible team," Hamilton told reporters after the race.
"This is history in the making, with five 1-2 finishes in a row. I'm so happy for every one of them.
"It was an interesting start. I saw the red car of the Ferrari go around the back of us. I knew Valtteri would brake super deep and thankfully, it wasn’t a replay of Baku…
"[On the fastest lap] I was trying to keep the tyres warm. I haven’t had a fastest lap all year and it was about time."
The victory helps Hamilton leapfrog Bottas into first place in the Drivers' Championship, leading his team-mate with 112 points to 105. Verstappen is a distance third on 66.
Max Verstappen completes the podium with his second-top three finish for the season.
The Ferraris of Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc came fourth and fifth respectively, the second time that this season that neither has secured a podium spot.
