And the chequered flag comes out. Vettel is quickest from Rosberg, Webber, Grosjean, Raikkonen, Alonso and Massa. It’s set fair for an interesting weekend and NO TYRE FAILURES so far! Join us again for FP3 at 9.00 GMT, 10.00 BST.

Looking at a three stop race strategy if the medium tyre works fine for 22 or so laps as Webber has proven.
2'
The session seems to have proven that the medium is definitely the better option race tyre.
3'
Kimi is pitting for prime tyres. He says he’s getting some graining.
4'
The Mercedes drop off in pace on the softs has been fairly alarming but that’s where they have struggled this season.
5'
Five minutes remaining and Red Bull and Ferrari have looked good. Webber being told cars have been struggling with the rear tyres on options.
7'
Webber finally in after 22 laps on the medium rubber. He bolts on softs for his final stint.
8'
As always we’re not sure about the fuel loads but Massa has been consistently in the low 1:37s on the soft tyres and that’s good.
9'
Only the unwell Bianchi not currently on track.
10'
Into the final ten minutes and Vettel leads. He’ll stay there and Red Bull have shown good pace on both compounds. Remember, Vettel has never won his home race…
11'
Rosberg still comparing well to the Red Bulls but Hamilton appears to have dropped off. A very stable tyre, the medium compound, as the fuel loads get lower.
12'
Raikkonen has made some rear end changes to the Lotus.
13'
Sadly for Hamilton, Vettel was half a second quicker over the lap. Red Bull looking strong.
14'
Webber dials in a strong lap on his 17th lap on the medium compound tyre. Definitely the tyre to go for at the moment.
15'
Hamilton behind Vettel on the track and being told he’s on the same tyre so is a good reference point.
17'
A lot of late action. Only two cars still in the pits.

@WilliamsF1Team Pastor is on soft tyres while #BOTTAS heads out on mediums

Webber unhappy at being blocked by Grosjean’s Lotus and gesticulates angrily as he passes him.
20'
It may be that if the temperatures rise on Saturday as expected, that may be a better working temperature for the soft compound.
21'
Vettel has been informed he experienced normal levels of wear on the soft tyres on his long run and that the mediums had less of a drop off. That’s understandable.
