And it's full-time. And that is a famous result for Costa Rica, who have upstaged their more illustrious neighbours in sensational fashion. It was a totally deserved victory too - they mostly outplayed Uruguay, who looked pedestrian and lacklustre from start to finish. What a World Cup this is shaping up to be. England and Italy might have an easier route out of their group now, bot Costa Rica might just be able to have a say about it. Thanks for reading, and goodnight.

RED CARD! Uruguay have totally lost it here, and none moreso than Maxi Pereira, whose suspension will make his side's task even more difficult now. Campbell runs the ball into the corner and Pereira takes a frustrated, mad swing at him and deservedly gets a sending-off. The first red card of the tournament, and Uruguay are in serious, serious mither here.

It was only a very brief period where Costa Rica were really up against it here at 2-1. Other than about ten minutes, all the time they've been in the lead, they've led comfortably. Uruguay have been utterly embarrassed here.

Just three minutes of injury time. This one is surely done.

Uruguay have been very deservedly beaten here. And Costa Rica are probably ending tonight top of Group D. They're in a great position to progress to the next round if they can keep up this level of performance.

GOAL! And now they really have done it! It's 3-1 Costa Rica! The stadium absolutely erupts as Campbell plays a fine pass to get Urena beyond the Uruguay backline. Muslera comes charging out to deal with it, which is dangerous, and he's punished as the substitute slips it beneath him and into the net. What a game this is. What a World Cup this is, so far.

Ruiz is coming off now for Marcos Urena. Costa Rica had chances on the break, but couldn't extend their lead. Theyll be focusing on keeping the scores as they are for now, and hopefully they won't regret not taking one of their additional chances.

Football manager legend Abel Hernandez (who just about pipped Kyle Lafferty in his team's scoring charts last season) is on for Uruguay, but they still can't make it count. They've improved since Nicolas Lodeiro came on too, but Costa Rica are holding firm.

Costa Rica players going down with cramp, which gives this a lovely League-Two-side-putting-out-a-top-half-Premier-League-side feel.

Something to talk about - are Uruguay really underachieving or are they just not very good? Lugano had a truly pitiful season, Rodriguez is a bit average, and Rios and Pereira hardly get the blood racing. They still probably shouldn't be losing to Costa Rica, but they seemed to be overhyped, particularly given their disastrous qualification campaign.
72'
Costa Rica on the break again - this time Gamboa gets free, but he can't shake off the attention of the two Uruguay defenders despite running his heart out towards Muslera's goal. Costa Rica really, really, really, really want this.
69'
Well, forget what I said about this being the dullest game. Forlan gets into a dangerous position, but gets tackled, and it goes out for a corner, which Uruguay take quickly and short and Navas has to make another fine save to keep his side in it, before giving a rallying cry to his team. This is enthralling stuff.
68'
Costa Rica break with menace, but Celso Borges gets a rush of blood to the head and blazes it over from miles out. They need to stay calm - they are getting into wonderful positions on the counter and could extend their lead.

Here's something interesting, mind: Costa Rica leading Uruguay feels strange and bizarre, but Costa Rica's population is actually significantly higher, 4.7 million to 3.3 million. Obviously, there's more to being a football power than sheer numbers, but... well, I thought it was interesting.

Dear me, Campbell lets fly again and almost makes it 3-1. Uruguay are all over the place.

I was about to say Uruguay are in serious trouble here, but that was before Costa Rica scored their second. They are really staring down the barrel now. If they don't win this they absolutely have to get four points from their games against Italy and England, and on this showing, they don't look anywhere near capable of doing it.

GOAL! This is unbelievable! Duarte puts Costa Rica ahead! The ball goes to the back post, and there's Duarte to head it through the eye of a needle, just inside the far post. Uruguay are stunned, and they deserve it - they've been thoroughly rubbish. Costa Rica are going absolutely bananas in the stadium, joined by a fair few fans of Uruguay's rivals. What a moment this could be. Costa Rica could be ending tonight top of the group.

Costa Rica want a winner. Ruiz advances goalwards and is felled by Walter Gargano, who gets a yellow card for his trouble. The free-kick is probably too far away for a direct shot, but it could be nasty for Uruguay...

GOAL! Amazing! They've done it! Costa Rica are level! Uruguay don't deal with a ball into the box and it falls beautifully for Campbell, who has time to shift, get it onto his left foot and leather it past Muslera. A massive, massive moment for the minnows of Group D.

Costa Rica go within inches of equalising! Oscar Duarte had the header, but he went for the near post rather than heading it back across goal where Campbell was lurking. As a result, Muslera kept it out and he couldn't quite sort his feet out to hit home the rebound. Big let-off for Uruguay.
