Having banned the World Cup song for fear of it distracting the players, Capello is turning his attentions to bolstering his ranks and a player born and raised in Germany is rumoured to have crossed his radar.
Aaron Hunt, who has represented Germany at youth levels, is making waves in the Bundesliga for Werder Bremen.
Hunt scored both goals to rescue Werder at the weekend and the Daily Mail is claiming he is the subject of enquiries from England.
The forward qualifies for England by virtue of having an English mother and the 23-year-old could switch allegiance as he has not yet earned a full cap for Germany.
The Mail headline 'Revealed, the German striking ace England are out to pinch' certainly catches the eye.
But whether it has much substance is up for debate as Germany name their squad for friendlies against Chile and Ivory Coast later this month and Werder coach Thomas Schaaf feels his charge is good enough to figure.
"If you think about some of the names who are being considered for the German national team, then Aaron surely deserves to get a chance. He is in very good physical condition at the moment," said Schaaf.
"I don't want to say he belongs in the national team, but if he continues to play so consistently then he could be an option.”
