Poland without Krzynowek

A muscle strain has ruled Bayer Leverkusen winger Jacek Krzynowek out of Poland's World Cup qualifiers against Austria and Wales. One of the Poles' biggest attacking threats, Krzynowek has been nursing his injury and had been given only an outside chance

"He has stayed with the squad but it is clear that he will not play," said trainer Pawel Janas during a news conference.
Group leaders Poland play Austria in the southern Polish city of Chorzow on Saturday and Wales in Warsaw on Wednesday.
Poland have 18 points, two more than second-placed England having played one game more. Austria are third on 11 points and Wales, at home to England on Saturday, fifth with two points.
Krzynowek joins Liverpool goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek on the Poles' injured list as they bid for two victories to ensure they remain ahead of England before the two meet at Old Trafford in what may prove the group decider on October 12. Janas's only other headache is picking two starters from four in-form strikers.
Celtic frontman Maciej Zurawski is sure to start, but Janas refused to say whether Tottenham Hotspur's tall new target man Grzegorz Rasiak or the Poles' top scorer in qualifying Tomasz Frankowski would join him.
The coach can also call on Nigerian-born striker Emmanuel Olisadebe, back from an 18-month international absence and in scoring form for his club Panathinaikos.
"For the first time we have a genuine problem with who to pick -- all of them are playing very well indeed," Janas said
