Karen Bardsley will miss the rest of England’s UEFA Women’s Euros campaign through injury, the FA have said.
The 32-year-old was withdrawn from England’s quarter-final against France with 15 minutes remaining, with what has now been confirmed as a fracture of her fibula.
“Bardsley was substituted in the second half of the Lionesses’ 1-0 quarter final win over France on Sunday [30 July], having suffered a fibula fracture,” read a statement on the FA’s website.
“She will remain with the team in the Netherlands as they prepare to face the host nation in the semi-final in Enschede on Thursday 3 August.”
Liverpool Ladies’ Siobhan Chamberlain replaced Bardsley in the quarter-final and is expected to continue to deputise in goal.
