Newcastle United have completed the signing of centre-back Malick Thiaw from AC Milan for a reported £34.6 million.
The Germany international joins as Eddie Howe's fourth arrival of the summer, after the transfers of Anthony Elanga, Aaron Ramsdale and Antonito Cordero.
Though left undisclosed by Newcastle, Fabrizio Romano claimed that Thiaw has signed a four-year contract, for an initial fee of £31.13m with £3.46m worth of add-ons.
In his first interview as a Newcastle player, Thiaw said he was convinced by Howe's "vision" for the club and for his own personal development.
"I'm really excited to join this massive club," Thiaw told Newcastle United. "I can't wait to start training and to get to know my new teammates and all the staff.
"The gaffer showed me his vision and what he wants to do with me as a player and the club itself, which is really exciting.
"I think Newcastle speaks for itself. It's a great club, a big club with passionate fans who I can't wait to see at St. James' Park."
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe added: "We're really pleased to have Malick on board. He's a player I've admired for a long time and somebody who will add real quality to our defensive options.
"Malick is still young but brings valuable experience of Champions League football, as well as playing in the Bundesliga and Serie A, which is a major positive for us as we return to Europe this season."
Thiaw made 85 appearances for Milan across all competitions after his move from Schalke in the summer of 2022, scoring once.
While the 24-year-old's natural position is at centre-half, he also briefly featured at right-back and defensive midfield for Schalke as a youngster.

The signing bolsters The Magpies' defensive depth, with Sven Botman, Fabian Schar, Dan Burn and Jamal Lascelles their other recognised options in central defence.
With UEFA Champions League football back on the menu at St. James' Park, Thiaw could prove invaluable with a guaranteed eight league phase matches, especially in light of Botman and Lascelles' patchy injury history.
Meanwhile, Alexander Isak's future is still up in the air, with The Athletic reporting that the Sweden international is "adamant he will never represent Newcastle again".
Liverpool have been strongly linked with the striker's signature, having sold Darwin Nunez to Al-Hilal earlier in the window.
