Liverpool prepare Ekitike bid

Liverpool are preparing an offer for Eintracht Frankfurt forward Hugo Ekitike, amid speculation the player wants to join them.
They have also considered moves for a host of other striking targets, including Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins.
The Telegraph writes: "Liverpool are readying a bid to sign Hugo Ekitike after being given all the signs the France Under-21 international wants to join them.
"The Premier League champions have been holding internal discussions all week around potential striking targets and conversations have been held, to various lengths, over names as varied as Alexander Isak, Yoane Wissa, Ollie Watkins and Victor Osimhen.
"Isak, understandably, featured high at the top of the list and Liverpool were prepared to smash their transfer record again if they had been given any encouragement that Newcastle were prepared to do business.
"Newcastle had made a £70 million bid for the 22-year-old but the structure they proposed was wrong and it was also £16million short of his release clause; officials at St James’s Park also felt Ekitike wasn’t wholly convinced about moving to the North East."

Liverpool agree terms with Ekitike

The Mirror goes a step further by suggesting that Liverpool have agreed terms with Eintracht Frankfurt for Ekitike.
The story suggests that the player is ready to agree to a six-year contract, snubbing Newcastle in the process.
The paper reports: "Liverpool have agreed terms with Eintracht Frankfurt forward Hugo Ekitike and will make the Frenchman the latest new addition to their busy summer.
"Ekitike has said yes to a move to Anfield and will sign a six-year deal, with the Reds muscling in on Newcastle's bid for the 23-year-old after also making an inquiry for Magpies star Alexander Isak.
"The signing of Ekitike will take the champions' spending to north of £250million since they won the Premier League, but although he has an £86.5m release clause in his contract Liverpool hope to agree a deal for less."

United make new Mbeumo bid

The Sun reports that Manchester United have made a new offer for Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo.
United have brought their offer to up to £70m in pursuit of the forward wanted by manager Ruben Amorim.
The paper states: "Manchester United have tabled an improved bid for Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo.
"That is according to transfer insider David Ornstein, who reports an offer worth a fixed £65million has been made by United.
"Man Utd have also bid £5m in add-ons for Mbeumo in their third attempt to land him.
"The Red Devils are now waiting to hear the Bees' response."

Newcastle consider Wissa move

Amid reports that Liverpool are keen on Ekitike, Newcastle United are looking elsewhere.
The Athletic believes they are keen on Brentford striker Yoane Wisse.
The website claims: "Newcastle United are exploring a deal to sign Brentford striker Yoane Wissa after cooling their interest in Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike.
"The north-east club are yet to contact Brentford but that is expected soon, while an agreement would also be needed with the DR Congo international on personal terms.
"Nottingham Forest recently saw an offer for Wissa rejected.
"The 28-year-old was the Premier League’s highest non-penalty goalscorer last season, finding the net 19 times in 35 games."
