Arsenal get Sesko boost
Arsenal appear to have a clear run at RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko this summer.
The Slovenian turned down a chance to appear for Al-Hilal at the FIFA Club World Cup, meaning Arsenal can now swoop in.
The Mirror writes: "Arsenal will be able to proceed with a move for RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko after the Slovenia international wasn't tempted to make a money-spinning switch to Saudi Arabia in time to play at the Club World Cup.
"Saudi outfit Al Hilal had settled on Sesko as their third target in the hunt for a big name forward to join Aleksandar Mitrovic in their squad for the tournament in the US this summer.
"‌Arsenal have been chasing Sesko for a year, and came close to completing a deal for the 22-year-old last summer.
"He has remained on their radar ever since, along with the in-demand Gyokeres and Newcastle hotshot Alexander Isak. And with interest from a wide range of clubs in Gyokeres and Isak commanding a fee of north of ÂŁ100million, the Slovenian is seen as the easier player to sign."
Chelsea may return for Maignan
After missing out on signing AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan for the Club World Cup, Chelsea could return later this summer.
In addition, Robert Sanchez could be on his way out, with West Ham United lurking.
The Sun explains: "Chelsea had not initially planned to add a goalkeeper before next season but were attracted by the chance to land Mike Maignan.
"Talks with AC Milan have been halted this week with the two clubs a long way apart in their valuation - though there remains a chance a deal could be revisited later this summer.
"There is speculation Sanchez could be on the move. Chelsea insist they would be happy to continue with Sanchez and Jorgensen next season, but a number of clubs feel the former Brighton goalkeeper could be an option this month.
"Ex-Blues boss Graham Potter, now at West Ham, is one keeping a keen eye on proceedings."
Dortmund want Sancho return
Borussia Dortmund are keen on having Jadon Sancho back for a third spell in the Bundesliga.
The Manchester United winger would likely have to take a pay cut if he wanted to rejoin the German team.
The Athletic reports: "Borussia Dortmund have expressed their interest in Jadon Sancho to the player’s representatives.Â
"Dortmund are in the process of rebuilding their attack and see Sancho as a potential No. 10 option, behind Serhou Guirassy, in Niko Kovac’s 3-4-2-1. At this stage, Sancho is one of several candidates for the role, with Freiburg’s Japanese international Ritsu Doan another.Â
"And while the finances for any deal involving Sancho would be prohibitive given the winger’s current wages, the club remain optimistic that the opportunity to return to the Westfalenstadion, where so many of his career’s best moments have occurred, would be appealing."
Newcastle keen on Forest transfer guru
Nottingham Forest sporting director Ross Wilson could be in line for a move to Newcastle United.
The North East side are looking for a replacement for Paul Mitchell after his recent departure.
The Daily Mail claims: "Nottingham Forest chief Ross Wilson is among the names in the frame for the sporting director vacancy at Newcastle, Mail Sport can reveal.
"Recruitment specialists Nolan Partners are leading the search for Paul Mitchell’s replacement. He will leave at the end of June after less than a year in the role.
"Sources believe an appointment remains unlikely before then, but interviews are set to take place with several candidates. Wilson and former Arsenal assistant sporting director Jason Ayto are said to be among those who have had contact with Nolans."
