Monaco ready to make Marcus Rashford deal as Manchester United’s move for Patrick Dorgu falters - Paper Round

Ligue 1 side Monaco could provide Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford an escape with a loan offer, while Napoli could beat the Premier League side to Lecce defender Patrick Dorgu this month. Elsewhere, Arsenal may have to decide between bringing in Benjamin Sesko at the end of the season or Matheus Cunha now, and Brentford are hoping to land Michael Kayode from Fiorentina.

Monaco prepared to strike Rashford deal

The Sun reports that Marcus Rashford could be headed to Monaco after moves to AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund appear unlikely.
The Ligue 1 team are believed to be preparing an offer which would see them pay the bulk of the forward’s wages.
The paper reports: "Marcus Rashford could be heading to Monaco, SunSport can exclusively reveal.
"The Ligue 1 side are rich enough to afford the most attractive of loan deals.
"AC Milan have dropped interest in the striker while Dortmund would like to sign him on loan – but would expect United to fund half of his salary.
"Monaco are understood to be considering an approach and would be willing to pay most if not all of his massive weekly wage."

United move for Dorgu hits obstacle

Napoli have an interest in Lecce full-back Patrick Dorgu, which could derail Manchester United’s chase for the player.
The Serie A side are prepared to let Lecce keep the player on loan for the rest of the season as part of any arrangement.
The Mirror explains: "Manchester United could suffer a hammerblow to their chances of signing Patrick Dorgu this month.
"The Red Devils are in talks with Lecce over a deal for the Denmark full-back as they look to satisfy their long-term quest to land a left-sided defender for Ruben Amorim. United scouted Dorgu before Christmas and Mirror Football understands Leece rebuffed approaches from both Chelsea and Tottenham during the summer transfer window.
"The Premier League sides both fell short of the Serie A side's valuation but United may now themselves see a problem posed. While the 13-time Premier League champions are said to have travelled to hold face-to-face negotiations in Italy over a deal, they now appear to be faced with the prospect of Napoli reaching an agreement first.
"Antonio Conte's team are said to be close to reaching a deal for Dorgu that would see Dorgu remain at Lecce on loan until the end of the season. If United were to meet the Italian's £33.8 million asking price, they would beat Napoli to the deal."

Arsenal weigh up Sesko deal

Arsenal could sign Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig at the end of the season for £67 million, but that leaves Mikel Arteta with a dilemma.
The north London side want a striker in this window, which could see them turn to Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Matheus Cunha.
The Daily Star states: "Arsenal's pursuit of Benjamin Sesko could hit a snag as the striker is set to be available for £67 million in the summer – leaving Mikel Arteta with a significant transfer conundrum.
"The Gunners are crying out for more attacking prowess with both Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus out of action. The club's seeming hesitation to secure a new forward during the January transfer window has irked some supporters, especially with goals currently scarce.
"However, Arsenal are juggling several options and are known to be monitoring Matheus Cunha, who might still depart Wolves this month. With it being improbable that they would sign both players, Arsenal and Arteta have much to mull over in the forthcoming weeks.
"Earlier this month, reports suggested that Cunha was on the brink of signing a new contract with Wolves."

Brentford set to land Fiorentina full-back

Brentford are hoping to capture Fiorentina defender Michael Kayode on loan, according to the Evening Standard.
The 20-year-old is struggling for minutes at the Serie A side, and Brentford are also keen to insert an option to buy in any deal.
The paper claims: "Brentford are set to sign Fiorentina right-back Michael Kayode, paving the way for Mads Roerslev to leave.
"The Bees want Kayode, 20, to join on loan for the rest of the season. A clause in the offer on the table means they have the option to buy him from Fiorentina for around £14 million in the summer once the loan ends.
"Roerslev has been criticised by some sections of The Bees’ fanbase this season but has been the first-choice right-back.
"He would have stayed for the rest of the season if the Kayode deal had not come off, but Brentford and Wolfsburg are now looking to wrap up a move to send the Dane to Germany on loan for the rest of the season."
