Manchester United plan squad clearout as Chelsea ready to rival Arsenal for Viktor Gyokeres - Paper Round

Chelsea are said to be keen on Eintracht Frankfurt forward Hugo Ekitike, while they may also provide competition in the race for Arsenal target Viktor Gyokeres, who seems set to leave Sporting CP. Elsewhere, Jack Grealish’s wages may be a stumbling block for any suitors of the Manchester City forward, and Manchester United will listen to offers for almost all of their squad.

Man Utd plan clearout

Manchester United are ready to listen to offers for most of their squad, according to The Telegraph.
Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, Antony, Bruno Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Tyrell Malacia, Rasmus Hojlund, Casemiro, Altay Bayindir and Andre Onana could all be sold as Ruben Amorim weighs up his rebuild.
The paper writes: "Ipswich striker Liam Delap and Wolves forward Matheus Cunha are leading targets and their respective £30 million and £62.5 million release clauses would effectively swallow up United’s budget if the club manage to get deals over the line for the pair.
"Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford are expected to be among the most high profile departures as Amorim prepares to overhaul his squad. United are asking for £60 million and £40 million respectively for the forwards.
"Royal Antwerp goalkeeper Senne Lammens and Leicester’s Mads Hermansen are among those United have watched. Some doubts have been cast about the future of Kobbie Mainoo but it seems less likely United would cash in on the England midfielder if they sold Garnacho."

Chelsea could rival Arsenal for Gyokeres

The Evening Standard believes there could be competition between two London sides for Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres.
Both Arsenal and Chelsea may battle for the Swedish forward in the summer transfer window.
The paper states: "Mikel Arteta’s side are understood to have been admirers of the 26-year-old Swede since his days at Coventry City, and are believed to be among the frontrunners in the race for his signature in the summer transfer window.
"Despite months of debate over his summer plans, Gyokeres has remained coy about his future and has given little away to his Sporting team-mates, either.
"Manchester United are also reportedly interested in reuniting the striker with ex-Sporting manager Ruben Amorim, although The Red Devils boss is not convinced his former charge will give up Champions League football for a move to Old Trafford.
"Instead, there’s a chance perennial big spenders Chelsea could emerge as Arsenal’s chief challengers for Gyokeres’ services in the coming months."

Chelsea target Ekitike

Chelsea are looking to land Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike this summer, but he could cost a huge sum.
The Athletic believes the Bundesliga club would value the player at almost £84 million, which would bring in a significant profit.
The website reports: "Chelsea are interested in Eintracht Frankfurt forward Hugo Ekitike, as they seek to conclude early summer transfer business as quickly as possible.
"Ekitike, 22, scored 22 goals in 45 appearances in all competitions for Frankfurt last season and — according to sources close to the club, granted anonymity to protect relationships — is valued at €100 million (£83.9m), albeit with a negotiable payment structure.
"The 2024/25 season was the France Under-21 international’s second year in the Bundesliga, having moved initially on loan from Paris Saint-Germain in January 2024. That transfer was made permanent the following summer for €17.5m."

Grealish may struggle to find new club

Manchester City could find it difficult to shift Jack Grealish from their books this summer despite Pep Guardiola no longer having a place for him in the starting line-up.
City hope to get much of his £100 million transfer fee back, and any loan move may include subsidising his wages.
The Mirror explains: "Manchester City are open to offers for Jack Grealish as he falls down the pecking order under Pep Guardiola - but his mega wages may prove an issue for a potential buyer.
"City's hierarchy will be keen to recoup a significant chunk of the £100 million it cost to sign Grealish in the first place.
"They will almost certainly have to accept a loss on that figure and a loan move has not been ruled out - with City having to stump up a significant amount of his wages.
"Grealish is keen to secure a move where he can play regularly, which will aid his bid to make Thomas Tuchel's England squad for next summer's World Cup. He's currently fallen out of the picture with The Three Lions after his form dipped."
