After the proposed signing of Atletico Madrid striker Samu Omorodion collapsed, Chelsea have instead agreed a deal to bring Joao Felix from the Wanda Metropolitano to Stamford Bridge. The 24-year-old Portugal international Felix spent last season on loan at Barcelona, but has already played on loan for Chelsea in the second half of the 2023/24 season.

Chelsea have completed the signing of Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid.
The Portugal winger's arrival comes after Chelsea’s move for Atletico forward Samu Omodorion broke down, and as reports suggested that the deal was essential for Conor Gallagher to move in the other direction, an alternative was found.
Gallagher's move to Atletico the other way was confirmed earlier in the day.
Felix spent last season on loan at Barcelona, playing 44 games and scoring 10 goals, but the Catalans decided not to make the temporary spell into a permanent transfer.
He previously had a loan spell at Stamford Bridge in the second half of the 2022/23 season, making 20 appearances and scoring four goals.
In recent years Felix's relationship with Atletico manager Diego Simeone deteriorated and he had been expected to leave this summer.
"It’s a chance for me to find a home," Felix told the club website.
"After two loans, Chelsea and Barca, I needed to stay permanently in one place. There is no better place for me to be than Chelsea. I see a perfect place to shine.
"It was a little bit of a lot of things that made me want to come back: the project, the club, the league, the fans, the time I spent here that I loved. I felt really good when I was here, despite the results we had. I’m really happy to be back.
"I feel like my best years are ahead of me. I have no doubt about that. The best years are still to come. And this year is going to be a good year, because now I am permanently at home, and I can enjoy home."
It has been a busy summer for Chelsea in the transfer market under new manager Enzo Maresca as they continue their extensive rebuild under Todd Boehly’s ownership.
They have also signed Aaron Anselmino, Pedro Neto, Tosin Adarabioyo, Filip Jorgensen, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Omari Kellyman, Marc Guiu and Renato Veiga.
Chelsea’s opening Premier League fixture is on Sunday, August 18 at home to Manchester City.
