Real Madrid are lining up a shock swoop for Harry Kane following the news that Karim Benzema will be leaving the Spanish capital. Manchester United, who are also interested in the Tottenham Hotspur forward, currently believe it is "unlikely" Kane will move to Old Trafford. Elsewhere, Chelsea chase Sporting Lisbon's Manuel Ugarte and Manchester City hope to extend Erling Haaland's contract.

Kane could be the Real deal

Real Madrid have entered the race to sign Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane after it was announced that Karim Benzema would be departing the Spanish club this summer. Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has put the 29-year-old at the top of his striker wishlist and has also added Chelsea's Kai Havertz to his transfer targets. Real Madrid are "unlikely" to pay £100m for Kane, but will enter negotiations with Spurs.
The Mirror states: "Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti wants them to move for Kane while they are also eyeing a move for Chelsea striker Kai Havertz to replace Benzema.
"Spurs chairman Daniel Levy does not want to sell and will demand in excess £100m to scare off potential interest. ‌Levy has been adamant that he will not sell to a Premier League rival and that looks set to thwart Manchester United's interest this summer. ‌
"‌It now remains to be seen whether Real Madrid can turn Kane’s head and also tempt him to leave his beloved Tottenham this summer. They are highly unlikely to agree to pay £100m for a player who turns 30 next month and has a year left on his contract but also know Levy is a tough negotiator."‌

Man Utd pessimistic about signing Kane

Manchester United believe it is "unlikely" that they will be able to complete the signing of their top transfer target Harry Kane this summer. United boss Erik ten Hag is a huge admirer of the England captain and has made Kane a priority for the club's summer business. However, United are feeling pessimistic due to the fact that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy does not want to sell his prized asset to a Premier League rival.
The Telegraph reports: "Manchester United are to make an offer of £50m to sign Mason Mount this month. The club will also push Tottenham Hotspur to sell Harry Kane but currently believe it is unlikely to happen.
"The situation around Kane is more complicated given the scale of the deal and how difficult it has proven in the past to persuade Tottenham Hotspur to sell.
"There are more realistic alternatives than Kane being considered by United for the centre-forward position but he remains their No. 1 target if a deal can be done."

Chelsea getting creative with their transfers

Chelsea are confident of beating Paris Saint-Germain to the signing of Sporting Lisbon midfielder Manuel Ugarte. The 22-year-old had already told PSG that he wanted to move to the French capital, but Chelsea have offered to "buy a minority stake" in Sporting Lisbon in order to complete the transfer. The west London club are flexing their financial muscle and getting creative in the process of signing a talented midfielder.
The Mirror reveals: "PSG had triggered the €60million (£52m) release clause of the in-demand Uruguayan midfielder, who had informed the French champions of his preference for moving to the Parc des Princes.
"However, Mirror Football understands that Chelsea's offer to sign Ugarte is not a straight cash arrangement. Alongside the Blues package being spread over the course of instalments, allowing them to circumvent UEFA’s Financial Fair Play (FFP) boundaries, it includes a proposal to buy a minority stake in the Lisbon-based club.
"Sporting are believed to have informed Ugarte that he will only be sold to Chelsea this summer. It is understood that the Blues have offered an eight-year contract to Ugarte."

Man City hope to extend Haaland's contract

Manchester City are exploring the idea of extending Erling Haaland's contract less than a year after he was signed from Borussia Dortmund. The 22-year-old has enjoyed a blistering debut season for the Premier League champions, and City are hoping that a contract extension will deter any interest around Haaland from the likes of Real Madrid, who have held long-term interest in the Norwegian.
The Telegraph writes: "The Norway striker, 22, arrived for the start of the campaign but is in the frame for the fresh terms to make it even harder for Real Madrid to launch Operation Haaland and land the player who has scored 52 goals this season.
"There is confidence at City that an extension has a strong chance of being agreed, given Haaland’s happiness at the club.
"Any new deal would give City an opportunity to make it even more difficult for Champions League rivals to try to lure away the most prolific striker in Europe this season."
