Karim Benzema looks set to stay in the Saudi Pro League despite interest from Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Lyon, while Brighton are leading the race for Tottenham forward Bryan Gil. Elsewhere, Lyon are closing in on the signing of West Ham playmaker Said Benrahma, and Amad Diallo wants to go back to Sunderland after a previous loan spell.

Benzema set to stay at Al Ittihad

Karim Benzema is going to stay at Al Ittihad despite being linked with a January move to Manchester United, Arsenal. Chelsea and Lyon.
The French veteran is unsettled in Saudi Arabia but seems likely to stay in the Pro League, reports The Athletic.
The website writes: “Karim Benzema will remain at Al Ittihad as the Saudi Pro League January transfer window deadline approaches.
“The Athletic reported Lyon were exploring a move for their former player during the January window, six months on from his move to Saudi Arabia.
“The 36-year-old signed a three-year deal with Al Ittihad last summer after moving from Real Madrid.
“Benzema was absent from team duties over the recent Saudi Arabian mid-season break, leaving on holiday without permission before reporting late back to the team.”

Brighton lead chase for Gil

Brighton are leading the chase for Tottenham forward Bryan Gill, according to the Daily Mail.
Nottingham Forest are also keen and the Spaniard could leave before the transfer window shuts.
“Brighton have opened talks with Tottenham over a move for out of favour attacker Bryan Gil,” the report claims.
“Gil can leave Tottenham ahead of Thursday's deadline and Brighton are now in discussions with their north London rivals over a potential move.
“It is understood the Seagulls are looking to secure an initial loan for the attacking midfielder - who is also attracting interest from Nottingham Forest.”

Lyon close in on Benrahma deal

Ligue 1 strugglers are hoping to land West Ham playmaker Said Benhrama.
The Algerian has fallen out of favour in East London and the club could use any funds raised to reinforce their attack.
“Lyon have agreed a fee with West Ham to sign Said Benrahma,” The Sun writes.
“The French club are ready to pay just over £15million for the Algerian, who must now make a call on whether to move or not.
“Lyon believe personal terms have been broadly agreed but there are still details to finalise with Benrahma's numerous representatives.
“West Ham have been keen to move the former Brentford man on this month.
“David Moyes wants to bolster his attacking options but needs to raise funds in order to do so.”

Diallo wants Sunderland return

Amad Diallo wants to go back to Sunderland, where he had success on loan last season.
The Mirror suggests that a mooted switch to Middlesbrough is unlikely because the player does not want to turn out for Sunderland’s rivals.
The paper explains: “Manchester United's Amad is keen on a return to Sunderland, where he was a success on loan last term.
“The Ivorian has struggled for consistent minutes ever since his £36million move from Atalanta in 2020 but produced some of his best football at the Stadium of Light last season. Those exploits didn't further his first-team ambitions at Old Trafford however.
“Amad has also been linked with a move to Middlesbrough, who are now managed by former United assistant Michael Carrick, who would've worked with the Ivorian when he first arrived in Manchester. The Riverside outfit are one of Sunderland's main rivals, which would've added controversy to any switch.”
