Kieran Trippier ready for Bayern Munich move as Newcastle United consider finances - Paper Round

Kieran Trippier would entertain an offer to join Bayern Munich, with Newcastle United ready to boost their finances.

The Mirror explains that Newcastle’s recent heavy spending has led them to weigh up some player sales to balance the books.

“Kieran Trippier is prepared to quit Newcastle for Bayern Munich after the German champions made an approach to sign the England right-back,” the paper reports.

“Newcastle have rejected their initial advance, but the knowledge that Trippier is keen, and has had his head turned, could sway the deal in the coming days. The Toon stand-in skipper is open to a move to Munich to join his former Tottenham team-mates Harry Kane and Eric Dier, but it will take big money to make it happen.

“The 33-year-old is out of contract in summer 2025, but has been unsettled, and Eddie Howe and sporting director Dan Ashworth now have a huge decision over the talisman. Bayern have no chance of landing Trippier on loan, and Newcastle want a hefty fee which they will reinvest.

“United will also be offered a loan deal with an obligation to buy in the summer. Sources in Germany say Bayern are hopeful and the deal is cheaper than their chase for Paris Saint-Germain right back Nordi Mukiele. Newcastle admitted last week they are open to sales after making more than £140million losses in the last two years.”

The Mail reports that Aston Villa have not been put off after two bids were rejected by Middlesbrough for Morgan Rogers.

Unai Emery is keen on landing the forward, and could also sign Elfsborg keeper Hakon Valdimarsson.

The paper writes: “Middlesborough have rejected two offers from Aston Villa for forward Morgan Rogers.

“The 21-year-old, who only joined Championship side Middlesbrough six months ago from Manchester City, is hotly sought after by Unai Emery.

“He impressed against Villa in the FA Cup and was previously discussed by them when they sold Jack Grealish to City.

“Meanwhile, Villa have made an approach for Iceland goalkeeper Hakon Valdimarsson from Swedish side Elfsborg.”

Chelsea have been told by Southampton boss Russell Martin that they will need a big offer to land Kyle Walker-Peters.

The Sun writes that the full-back has been highlighted as a player to cover for Reece James, who is out injured.

“Russell Martin warned Chelsea it would take big money to force Southampton to sell Kyle Walker-Peters this month,” the paper writes.

“England international Walker-Peters, 26, is on the Blues’ radar as they eye defensive reinforcements and cover for injury-cursed Reece James.

“Now Mauricio Pochettino is keen to make a shock transfer swoop to the Championship to bring in Walker-Peters.

“But Southampton are reluctant to sell their key man as they chase an immediate promotion back to the Premier League.

“Saints boss Martin said: ‘My message is probably different to the party line but it’s go away.

“‘He’s in such a good place. It would take a lot of money to prise him away. He is happy here.'”

Wolves will send defender Yerson Mosquera on loan to Villarreal for the rest of the season.

The Athletic reports that the young defender still has a future with the club but they want him to gain first-team experience.

The website writes: "Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Yerson Mosquera is set to join Villarreal on loan.

"If all goes according to plan, the 22-year-old will move to the Spanish side until the end of the season. They will have no option or obligation to buy the centre-back when the loan ends.

"Mosquera had previously been on loan at MLS club FC Cincinnati, who he joined in February 2023.

"The Colombia international is seen as a future Wolves first-team player but the club feel he needs game time and experience before playing regularly in the Premier League.

"He played in 26 MLS matches for FC Cincinnati last season, scoring two goals and assisting the same amount."
