How many games will Anthony Gordon miss for FA Cup red card? Will Newcastle star be available for Carabao Cup final?
Anthony Gordon will almost certainly miss Newcastle's latest attempt to end their 70-year major trophy drought after being sent off for violent conduct in his side's 2-1 defeat to Brighton in the FA Cup. The Englishman was given his marching orders for a two-handed shove on Jan Paul van Hecke with the scores still level at 1-1. Alexander Isak could also miss the final after picking up an injury.

Anthony Gordon has put Newcastle United's chances of ending their long silverware drought in jeopardy after seeing red in the FA Cup on Sunday.
The Englishman was issued with a straight red card by referee Anthony Taylor during Newcastle's 2-1 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion in the fifth round of the competition.
With the score on a knife-edge at 1-1, Gordon was dismissed in the 83rd minute for a two-handed shove to the head of Jan Paul van Hecke, despite play being stopped for an offside.
Danny Welbeck struck a dramatic 114th-minute winner, but not before Brighton full-back Tariq Lamptey was also sent off for a second bookable offence in regulation injury time.
The incident-filled tie also saw Alexander Isak forced off with an apparent hamstring injury and could well be a doubt to face Liverpool at Wembley on Sunday, March 16.
And Gordon is almost certain to be unavailable for the Carabao Cup final, as the punishment for violent conduct is set at three domestic matches.
Without a successful appeal, this would rule out the 24-year-old from Newcastle's upcoming Premier League fixtures against West Ham and Brentford, as well as their showdown with Liverpool in the capital.
Manager Eddie Howe said the club would "possibly" appeal the suspension, calling the decision "harsh" on initial viewing.
"It looks harsh, but we'll have to analyse it properly," Howe told ITV. "I've not seen it, a replay of it. I was just going on my original view.
"We'll see and then see what we do next. It was just a mass of bodies in my first viewing. Anthony obviously didn't mean any harm.
"I've only seen him very briefly before coming out to you and he was really disappointed."

It is the second time Gordon has been shown a red card in his career after picking up two cautions in Newcastle's 4-3 home win over West Ham last season.
With the winger's Carabao Cup final participation in serious jeopardy and Isak a doubt, Newcastle will hope that Joelinton and Sven Botman will recover from their respective knee injuries in time to face Arne Slot's team.

Newcastle last won a major trophy in 1955, beating Manchester City 3-1 to lift the FA Cup for the sixth time.
Since then, The Magpies have reached five major finals, including the 2023 Carabao Cup final, when Gordon was also unavailable due to being cup-tied.
Nick Pope played no part in their 2-0 defeat to Manchester United either, having been sent off against Liverpool a week earlier.
This meant Loris Karius made his club debut at Wembley, with Martin Dubravka, like Gordon, cup-tied after appearing on loan for Manchester United in previous rounds.
