Sampdoria back Cavasin

Sampdoria president Riccardo Garrone has said that new manager Alberto Cavasin will be given time in the role despite the club's league position.

Sampdoria sacked Domenico Di Carlo earlier in the month, replacing him with Cavasin, but results have yet to pick up and the Genoa club are flirting with relegation.
Defeats against Catania and Parma under Cavasin have dropped the club to 16th in Serie A and the club are without a league win since beating Bologna 3-1 in February.
"We are continuing with Cavasin until the end of the season, even though the team has not reacted," Garrone said.
"I spoke to Cavasin and it was a positive dialogue."
