Walsall manager Dean Smith has been named Sky Bet League One manager of the month for August.

Smith has won the gong after overseeing an unbeaten start to the league campaign where the Saddlers have won four and drawn one of their opening five games to sit at the top of the pile.

After drawing the first game against Oldham they have since beaten Southend, Rochdale, Coventry and Blackpool to enjoy a superb start to the campaign.

They have also beaten Championship opposition in the opening two rounds of the Capital One Cup, seeing off Nottingham Forest and Brighton.
