Spurs agree fee for Rocha

Tottenham Hotspur look to be on the verge of making their first signing of the January transfer window by tempting Benfica defender Ricardo Rocha to leave the Stadium of Light.

The North London club have had a bid of 5 million euros accepted by Benfica and Spurs are hoping Rocha will sign a four-year contract.

The player and his agent are flying to London over the weekend to arrange personal terms and have a medical, and Tottenham are hopeful that the deal will be concluded in the next 48 hours.

Tottenham will be pleased to secure the signature of the defender, after selling Calum Davenport to West Ham earlier this week.
