Fulham 2-2 Liverpool result - Harrison Reed scores stunning last-gasp equaliser after Cody Gakpo and Florian Wirtz cancelled out Harry Wilson's opener

Harrison Reed struck a sensational stoppage-time equaliser as Fulham claimed a 2-2 draw following a thrilling finale against Liverpool at Craven Cottage.

The hosts stole in front on 17 minutes when Harry Wilson’s spectacular strike from Raul Jimenez’s sumptuous flick was eventually ruled onside by VAR.

Liverpool were missing leading scorer Hugo Ekitike through injury and it showed as they dominated the first half but lacked a cutting edge.

Arne Slot’s men did hit the woodwork through an Alexis Mac Allister header as they upped the ante following the interval and Florian Wirtz slipped home the equaliser just shy of the hour after a lengthy VAR check deemed the initial call of offside was incorrect.

Cody Gakpo tapped in what he thought was the winner in the fourth minute of added time, but substitute Reed had other ideas as he unleashed an incredible 25-yard thunderbolt into the top corner three minutes later to rescue a draw.

The result means Liverpool remain fourth in the table but miss the opportunity to pull clear of the chasing pack despite stretching their unbeaten run to nine matches across all competitions. Fulham sit six points further back in 11th spot.

Next up, Marco Silva’s men host Chelsea on Wednesday night, while Liverpool visit leaders Arsenal on Thursday.

"[Liverpool in the second half were] better. It couldn’t have been much worse, in the first half they were so pedestrian," said Carragher on Sky Sports.

"There was more intensity, a lot of that came from Conor Bradley.

"Wirtz again gets a goal – I think that’s two in three games now – he looks offside to me [though]. When it’s really tight you look at the lines and he definitely looks like he’s further forward."

He added: "They finally get a bit of width when they bring Frimpong on – and Gakpo, when you think of his strength, it’s just getting goals every three or four games. He thinks he’s gone on and got the winning goal…[but Harrison Reed had other ideas]."

A cross from the left falls for Kevin but his volley is blocked up into the air, allowing Alisson to come off his line and pluck the ball out of the air.

Jimenez races on to a long ball but his touch is poor and Alisson is able to come off his line and block it clear.

It falls for Wilson who side steps a man just outside the area before clipping a shot towards an empty goal that comes back off the bar.

Van Dijk had got back on the line and eventually puts it behind with the resulting corner coming to nothing.
