Liam Rosenior said Chelsea have "set fire to four points" in their past two Premier League outings after Burnley snatched a point at Stamford Bridge in stoppage-time.

It is the second successive league game that Chelsea have thrown away a lead on home soil, having surrendered a two-goal advantage against Leeds United last week.

They have dropped 17 points from winning positions at home this season, more than any other team in the top flight.

Speaking at full-time, Rosenior was critical of his side’s performance after going ahead early on, but the 41-year-old believes he has the solution.

"We’ve set fire to four points from two home games," the Chelsea head coach said.

"After the first goal, we lacked incision. We were too safe in our possession. It’s not good enough for a club of this level for me to come and say we were the better team.

"We need to win games. I know what the answer is and we will address it in the week."

Chelsea opened the scoring after four minutes as Joao Pedro finished from close range for his 11th league goal of the season following Pedro Neto's low cross into the box.

Rosenior's side then dominated for much of the contest but the game flipped in the 72nd minute when Wesley Fofana received a second yellow card, meaning they were forced to play the final 20 minutes with 10 men.

Burnley pressed for the equaliser and eventually capitalised on the extra man in added time when Zian Flemming headed home from a James Ward-Prowse corner.

Rosenior was angered by the nature of the equaliser, pointing the blame at players in his team who "didn’t do their job" at the set piece.

"It is unacceptable for their best header of the ball to be free in the box," he said.

"I am learning very quickly about this team and I know what needs to be done for us to improve.

"It is not enough clean sheets and not enough basics and values of defending set-pieces. That is something l have to address.

"There were players on the pitch who were assigned to do their job and who didn't do their job. That is what cost us the two points."

Chelsea climb up to fourth with the point but only move ahead of Manchester United on goal difference, meaning Michael Carrick's side can move three points clear with a win away to Everton on Monday.

Meanwhile, Liverpool can draw level on points with Rosenior’s side if they triumph at Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

The recent slip-ups come at the start of a difficult run for Chelsea in the league, travelling to Arsenal and Aston Villa in their next two games before a home clash with Newcastle United.
