Brentford 2-2 Wolves result: Tolu Arokodare rescues a point as rock-bottom visitors come from two down to dent The Bees’ Euro push

Igor Thiago marked the day of his first call-up for Brazil with a goal but Brentford missed the chance to bolster their push for Europe as Wolves came from two down to rescue a 2-2 draw.

The Bees took the lead on 22 minutes when Michael Kayode headed home his first Premier League goal from Keane Lewis-Potter’s sumptuous cross.

Keith Andrews’ men then doubled their advantage 15 minutes later when Thiago tucked in his 19th top-flight goal of the campaign after a brilliant touch and unselfish pass saw Dango Ouattara make the most of Caoimhin Kelleher’s long pass.

The visitors responded and gave themselves hope on the stroke of half time when Adam Armstrong rifled in a superb shot from the edge of the area.

Wolves then came within a whisker of levelling on 55 minutes when Armstrong slotted against the far post from close-in.

Rob Edwards’ men continued to pose the greater threat and deservedly equalised when substitute Tolu Arokodare stooped low to head home 13 minutes from time.

Both sides had big chances to win it but Arokodare hit the crossbar with another header before Bees substitute Reiss Nelson nodded inches wide.

The result sees Brentford stay seventh but they remain four points behind fifth-placed Liverpool after failing to make the most of a two-goal lead.

Wolves are now 12 points adrift of safety at the foot of the table with just seven matches to play.

Next up, Brentford visit Leeds on Saturday while Wolves face a break until April 10 when they travel to West Ham.
