The former Bees captain has become Mikel Arteta's third signing of the summer, following the arrivals of goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga and fellow central midfielder Martin Zubimendi.
According to widespread reports, the deal set Arsenal back £10 million in the initial transfer fee, with a further £2m in very achievable add-ons.
At the time of writing, Arsenal are yet to disclose the length of his contract. He will wear the No. 16 shirt, which was vacant last season after Rob Holding left in the summer of 2024.
Arteta told Arsenal's official website: "We’re delighted to welcome Christian to Arsenal.
"He is an international player with a wealth of experience of the Premier League. He has proven leadership skills and a strong character which will be invaluable to our squad.

"Christian will bring a lot to the group both on and off the pitch, and we’re excited to start working with him in this next chapter of his career. We welcome Christian and his family to Arsenal."
The Denmark international joined Brentford in 2019, while the west London outfit were in the Championship.
He helped them to a play-off final appearance in his first season, and promotion in the second. Their first top-flight game came against Arsenal, with Norgaard scoring in a 2-0 victory.
Brentford director of football Phil Giles told The Bees' official website: "On behalf of everyone at Brentford, I’d like to thank Christian for everything he’s done for the club over the last six years.
