Alexander-Arnold out of EFL Cup final

Trent Alexander-Arnold will miss Liverpool's EFL Cup final against Newcastle United on Sunday, after sustaining an injury during The Reds’ UEFA Champions League loss to Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday.
"Trent is indeed not available," Slot said. "He will not be there at the final, but he is still to be assessed about how long it will take [before he returns], but we do expect him back by the end of the season."
Ibrahima Konate was also forced off in extra-time against PSG, with Slot revealing that the Frenchman will need to be assessed before Sunday.
The Dutchman said: "We didn't train yesterday, we had a day off and the day before was recovery, so I expect him to train with us today, but let's see how he is."
Joe Gomez and Conor Bradley are absent from the Wembley fixture with hamstring problems.

Newcastle navigate three 'long-term' issues

Newcastle suffered a handful of injuries in the lead up to Sunday’s final, where they hope to claim their first piece of major silverware since 1955.
Lewis Hall, who has been sidelined for the rest of the season with a foot problem, is joined on the sidelines by Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles, who have both been ruled out with knee injuries.

Meanwhile, Anthony Gordon is suspended after he was sent off against Brighton & Hove Albion in the FA Cup.
"We’ve got long-term issues," Howe confirmed. "Lewis Hall is recovering after his operation now, Sven is recovering after his operation and Jamaal [Lascelles] is still making progress to come back.
"Anthony is suspended, but apart from that, we hope to have a full squad."

Saka 'getting closer'

Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s game against Chelsea, Mikel Arteta offered an update on the fitness of Bukayo Saka, who has been out since December after undergoing hamstring surgery.
"He’s getting closer," Arteta said. "He’s stepping up and making very good progress I would say. So let’s see when we start to throw him in with the team, how he reacts and how fit he can get quickly."
Arteta added that Ben White has all-but recovered from a knee injury that had plagued him since November.
The Spaniard said: "He’s been involved for the last two weeks almost, and he’s not reacting, so that’s very positive.
"We know Ben is a really important player for us, he brings something very different to the team dynamic, and I’m thrilled to have him."
Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus and Takehiro Tomiyasu remain long-term absentees.

Jackson and Madueke still injured

Wesley Fofana and Romeo Lavia are both available for Chelsea's encounter with Arsenal, while Enzo Maresca said he was hopeful that Noni Madueke and Nicolas Jackson would return after the international break.
"We hope after the international break [for their returns]," said Maresca.
"At this moment in the season, we have lost key players that are the ones who score the goals: Nico Jackson and Noni Madueke with injury.
"It’s not an excuse, it’s a reality for all clubs when you lose important players. Other players have to come in and do well and they have done."

Spurs emerge from Europa League test unscathed

Tottenham Hotspur appear to have overcome an injury crisis, with Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Dominic Solanke having all returned to the Spurs fold in recent weeks.
Ahead of a trip to Craven Cottage to face Fulham, Ange Postecoglou said: "[It is looking] pretty good. [There is] nothing [to report] from last night. Everyone got through it well."
Rodrigo Bentancur is available for selection on Sunday after serving a UEFA Europa League suspension against AZ Alkmaar.
Fraser Forster, Antonin Kinsky, Sergio Reguilon and Timo Werner are also back, having been ineligible for the midweek encounter.
Kevin Danso, Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison remain sidelined through injury, but could make their returns in April.

Maguire needs to be assessed, Mount to make bench

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim stated that Harry Maguire will need to be assessed before their game against Leicester City on Sunday, while Mason Mount is likely to be on the bench.
On Mount, Amorim said: "We need him and every player. He cannot play too many minutes but just five minutes of Mason Mount is perfect.
"I really love Mason Mount. I see him and know how he suffered. I know how he does everything right - he eats right, his physical aspect is perfect.
"When a player does everything like he does, he will always have the support of everybody here at the club. We will try to manage the load."
But United still cannot call on the services of Lisandro Martinez, Amad Diallo, Luke Shaw, Kobbie Mainoo, Leny Yoro, Jonny Evans and Patrick Dorgu, the latter through domestic suspension.
