Chelsea 1-1 Nottingham Forest: Noni Madueke scores again as Blues held at Stamford Bridge in Premier League

Chelsea continued their unbeaten run in the Premier League with a feisty 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge. The visitors, who themselves have enjoyed a strong start to the 2024/25 campaign, took the lead through Chris Wood before Noni Madueke bagged his fourth league goal of the season to bring Enzo Maresca's side back level.

Nottingham Forest continued their strong start to the Premier League season with a spirited 1-1 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, despite being reduced to 10 men late on.
Forest, who have lost just once in an impressive start to their Premier League campaign, opened the scoring through Chris Wood early in the second half, but were almost immediately pegged back by the in-form Noni Madueke - who netted his fourth league goal of the season.
Forest's task of holding onto a point in west London became a trickier prospect when James Ward-Prowse received his second booking on 78 minutes, but the visitors held firm to continue their sturdy start to the season.
A low-key first half juxtaposed Chelsea's previous league encounter at Stamford Bridge, when Cole Palmer netted four first-half goals against Brighton & Hove Albion, and Enzo Maresca's side avoided going behind in the 12th minute when Robert Sanchez produced a smart stop to keep out Ryan Yates' header.
The game exploded into action after the break as Wood opened the scoring for the visitors in the 49th minute.
Nikola Milenkovic rose highest at a free-kick to knock the ball into the six-yard box and into the path of Wood, who finished with aplomb to give Forest an unlikely lead. Wood produced a deft touch to slide the ball past the onrushing Sanchez and inside the post.

The lead lasted eight minutes, however, as the ever-improving Madueke got his side level shortly before the hour.
Palmer fed the winger on the right, and the 22-year-old shifted the ball onto his left foot before powering a low shot past a helpless Matz Sels in the Forest net.
Ward-Prowse added another layer of difficulty to the task facing Forest after being shown a red card with 13 minutes remaining. The former West Ham midfielder was dispossessed in a dangerous area by Nicolas Jackson and cynically pulled the striker to the ground and received a second yellow card in the process.
Chelsea began attacking in waves after the sending off, with Sels forced into an impressive double save from Palmer’s efforts four minutes from time, in addition to an important stop from Christopher Nkunku’s effort deep into stoppage time.
Emotions spilt over in the final minutes of regulation time with members of both benches pushing and shoving each other, an incident sparked by Marc Cucurella's collision with Maresca after a push by Neco Williams.
Forest had chances of their own late in the game, with Sanchez pulling off a fantastic, full-stretch save from a Williams shot before producing a spectacular stop as the game went into over 10 minutes of injury time.
The draw sees Chelsea continue their impressive Premier League run, having not tasted defeat since their opener against Manchester City - sitting fourth in the standings.
Forest temporarily moved up to ninth ahead of Tottenham Hotspur's meeting with Brighton later on Sunday.
