Alejandro Garnacho: Amad wants Manchester United team-mate to stay at Old Trafford next season - 'We need good players'

Amad has said he hopes Alejandro Garnacho will continue to be a Manchester United player next season, following reports the winger is set to leave Old Trafford. It comes after Ruben Amorim reportedly told the 20-year-old he should find a new club this summer after he complained about his lack of playing time in the UEFA Europa League final defeat against Tottenham Hotspur.

Amad has said he hopes Manchester United team-mate Alejandro Garnacho will be at Old Trafford next season after Ruben Amorim reportedly told the winger he should find a new club
It is reported that the Portuguese manager informed Garnacho he would be allowed to leave in the summer while addressing the United squad at their Carrington training ground on Saturday, following their UEFA Europa League final defeat three days earlier, according to The Athletic
Garnacho was then left out of the squad for United’s final Premier League game of the season against Aston Villa on Sunday, but has gone on the club’s post-season tour to Asia.
Despite Amorim’s comments, Amad came to the defence of his team-mate, saying United "need good players in the team" for next season.
During a pre-match press conference with Amorim ahead of United’s match against Hong Kong, the Ivorian told reporters: "Alejandro is a really good player and we need good players in the team.
"I know Garna really well, so I hope to have Garna next season. It is not really a big issue for the team. Everything is good now, I think."

As Amad was asked by reporters about his team-mate, Amorim appeared to laugh at the question.
Despite the United boss seeming to have his mind made up on Garnacho, the attacker played the whole of the second half in United’s first game of their tour, where they were beaten by ASEAN All Stars.
Asked about the 20-year-old’s presence on the tour, Amorim said: "It is not a surprise. He is a player of Manchester United, all the players are here.
"Some players are injured and it was better for them not to fly here to play these two games. It is a normal situation."
Amorim’s announcement to the squad regarding Garnacho’s future came after the winger appeared to complain about his lack of playing time in the Europa League final defeat against Tottenham Hotspur, after coming on in the 71st minute.
Speaking after the match, Garnacho said: "Up until the final I played every round helping the team, and today I play 20 minutes, I don't know.
"The final will influence [my decision] but the whole season, the situation of the club. I'm going to try to enjoy the summer and see what happens afterwards."
Garnacho’s brother Roberto, meanwhile, said on social media: "Working as no-one else, helping every round, coming from two goals in the last two finals, just to be on the pitch for 19 mins and get thrown under the bus."
