Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has been ruled "out for a few weeks" with a knee injury. Pepijn Lijnders confirmed the news in quotes on the Liverpool FC website. “Trent hyperextended his knee during the last game,” said Lijnders. "So he has a little tear in the lateral ligament of his knee and he will need time to recover. He had a scan and he will be out for a few weeks."

Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold will miss "a few weeks" of the season after suffering a tear in the lateral ligament of his knee, Pepijn Lijnders has confirmed.
The England international picked up the injury during Sunday’s 2-0 victory over Arsenal at the Emirates in the third round of the FA Cup.
"Trent hyperextended his knee during the last game," Lijnders told the club's website.
"So he has a little tear in the lateral ligament of his knee and he will need time to recover. He had a scan and he will be out for a few weeks, so let's see after that.
"He will get some rest and then hopefully he can come back to where he was. Because this guy was decisive in all the games and was the one who created constantly for us from deep and gave the team a high level of flexibility.
"We will really miss him.”
The news will come as a blow to Jurgen Klopp and Reds fans. Alexander-Arnold has been in fine form this season, with two goals and nine assists to his name in all competitions.
He has been deployed in more of a hybrid role of late, with the right-back being given a license to step into midfield and have more of an impact on games.
Debate continues to rage about his best position but this solution has worked wonders for Klopp, who has transformed his midfield from last season to make Liverpool title contenders once again.
Alexander-Arnold’s injury means he will miss both legs of Liverpool’s EFL Cup semi-final against Fulham, their Premier League clash against Bournemouth, and the FA Cup fourth round fixture against either Norwich or Bristol Rovers.
It also makes him a doubt for the visit of Chelsea to Anfield in the league on January 31.
The Reds currently sit top of the Premier League by three points ahead of surprise package Aston Villa after 20 games and also still have the Europa League to contend with after qualifying for the last 16.
