Ange Postecoglou has had his wish granted after Tottenham signed a central defender early in the transfer window, adding Radu Dragusin from Genoa for a fee reported to be in excess of £25m. The Romania defender was also thought to be a target for Bayern Munich, but he has opted for a move to the Premier League. Dragusin is Spurs’ second signing of the window, after Timo Werner joined on loan.

Tottenham have completed the signing of defender Radu Dragusin from Genoa, for a fee which is reported to be in excess of £25m.
The transfer was announced on Thursday and the Premier League club said: “We are delighted to announce the signing of Radu Dragusin from Serie A side Genoa, subject to international clearance and a work permit.
“The Romania international has signed a contract with the Club which will run until 2030 and he will wear the number six shirt.”
Boss Ange Postecoglou had previously spoken about wanting another centre-back early in the winter transfer window, with Micky van der Ven yet to return from a hamstring injury and Cristian Romero sidelined by the same problem.
Djed Spence, who spent the first half of the season at Championship side Leeds, has joined Genoa on loan as part of the deal.
Dragusin has signed a six-year contract and becomes Spurs’ second signing of the week, after Timo Werner joined on loan from RB Leipzig for the rest of the campaign.
The 21-year-old is viewed as one of the hottest defensive prospects in European football and he is thought to have chosen a move to the Premier League over German champions Bayern Munich.
Dragusin made his first-team debut at Juventus, before loans to Sampdoria and Genoa - the latter becoming a permanent deal just last summer after helping the club win promotion to Serie A.
The Romanian has played 22 times for Genoa this season and has chipped in with two goals from defence, including a strike in a 1-1 draw with Inter Milan.
On the international stage, he made his senior international debut in March 2022 and has since become a regular in the Romania side.
Dragusin currently has 13 caps for his country.
