Sandro Tonali has been suspended from football since October 27 due to a betting ban issued by the Italian Football Federation, and which was endorsed by FIFA. The Newcastle midfielder now faces a fresh misconduct charge from the English FA, who allege he broke their betting rules 50 times between the dates of 12 August 2023 and 12 October 2023.

Sandro Tonali has received a misconduct charge from the FA for breaching their betting rules.
The Newcastle midfielder has already been suspended from football since last October 27 due to a separate ban from the Italian FA, and now faces this fresh charge.
A statement from the FA alleges that Tonali "breached FA Rule E8 50 times by placing bets on football matches between 12 August 2023 and 12 October 2023."
They added that Tonali has "until 5 April 2024 to respond."
Newcastle released their own statement which read: "Newcastle United acknowledges a misconduct charge received by Sandro Tonali in respect of alleged breaches of FA Betting Rules.
"Sandro continues to fully comply with relevant investigations and he retains the club's full support.
"Due to this ongoing process, Sandro and Newcastle United are unable to offer further comment at this time."
Tonali's current ban from the Italian FA runs until August 27, 2024.
The 23-year-old joined Newcastle in July 2023 but only made 12 appearances in all competitions before his suspension from football.
Tonali began his professional career with Brescia before joining AC Milan, initially on loan, making 95 appearances across three seasons.
