Casemiro is set for another spell on the sidelines just after making his return. The Brazilian was back in Manchester United's starting side for their 3-0 defeat to Newcastle on Wednesday after a lay-off of almost a month, but was taken off at half-time with a muscular problem. United have confirmed it was a hamstring strain that will sideline the midfielder for "several weeks."

Manchester United midfielder Casemiro has been ruled out for “several weeks” with a hamstring problem, the Premier League club announced on Friday.
The Brazil international came off at half-time during United’s 3-0 League Cup defeat to Newcastle on Wednesday, having only just made his return from a previous injury.
He is now immediately facing another spell on the sidelines.
“Casemiro will be out for several weeks due to a hamstring injury suffered during our Carabao Cup defeat to Newcastle United on Wednesday,” said a Manchester United statement.
“The Brazilian midfielder was withdrawn at half-time due to the issue, and subsequent assessment has revealed a strain that will keep him out for a number of weeks.”
Casemiro’s appearance against Newcastle was his first for almost a month after an injury lay-off ruled him out of games against Copenhagen, Sheffield United and Manchester City.
He joins Tyrell Malacia, Luke Shaw and Lisandro Martinez on United’s injury list.
The news comes at a bad time for manager Erik ten Hag, who has come under increasing pressure after a difficult start to the 2023/24 season.
United travel to Fulham on Saturday, live on TNT Sports, after back-to-back 3-0 defeats against City in the Premier League and Newcastle in the League Cup.
Ten Hag’s side sit eighth in the league standings, 11 points behind leaders Tottenham and eight points outside the top four after 10 games.
They are also in a difficult position in the Champions League, sitting third in Group A midway through the group fixtures following defeats to Bayern Munich and Galatasaray, and a narrow win over Copenhagen.
Off-field problems have also played their part this season, including uncertainty over the club’s ownership situation and the freezing out of Jadon Sancho following a fall-out with Ten Hag.
