Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag disputed the validity of Declan Rice's winner scored in added time after a perceived foul against defender Jonny Evans, and wanted a penalty for Rasmus Hojlund, but Mikel Arteta saw his Arsenal side score three goals in response to secure an impressive victory ahead of the first international break of the new season.

'Decisions against us' - Ten Hag unhappy after Manchester United loss to Arsenal

Erik ten Hag disputed refereeing decisions in Manchester United’s 3-1 defeat to Arsenal on Sunday.
With the scores at 1-1 and the game heading towards full-time, the match sparked into life in the closing stages.
The Dutch manager thought that striker Rasmus Hojlund should have been given a penalty and, before Declan Rice’s winner, decried his own side's disallowed effort for a tight offside call on Alejandro Garnacho.
Hojlund flicked the ball onto Casemiro, who released winger Garnacho with a minute of normal time remaining, but the Argentine's neat finish was ruled out for offisde.
Ten Hag told Sky Sports: “You saw the game but it’s not offside, the wrong angle. It’s a penalty on Hojlund and then we concede a goal?"
As Arsenal went up the other end to score a goal, Ten Hag claimed: "That’s a foul on Jonny Evans, it’s so clear and obvious."
Evans appealed for a foul from Gabriel Jesus at the corner but no intervention came from the officials.
Despite the disappointing result, Ten Hag felt there were positives to draw from the performance.
Ten Hag continued: “OK, you can tell, finish your chances, and you can tell don’t concede a goal after you go 1-0 up, it’s all true, but I think there’s a step forward and I’m happy with the performance.”
Speaking to the BBC, he added: "I think we deserved to win this game but you don't always get what you deserve.
"I look more at how we step up and if you see from the Wolves game to this game there is big progression. Tonight was a team, I am really happy with this performance and the progress of our performance.
"We did well, we make progress, stick to the plan and believe and in the future we will win games like this."
On Arsenal's second goal: "It can't be that this goal is given. It was a clear foul."

Arteta praises 'beautiful' Arsenal

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta praised the "beautiful" comeback his side secured.
The Gunners conceded the first goal but then equalised in the 28th minute through Marten Odegaard, before Rice and Gabriel Jesus won the game in added time.
Arteta’s side go into the international break with 10 points, two behind league leaders Manchester City.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Arteta paid tribute to his side’s efforts, saying: "We work and do everything we do every day for moments like this. This is sport at the top level, it is about the small margins. It could have gone either way.
"I am really happy, obviously. They are a great team, really well coached and they make life difficult for you. When we gave the goal away that we did you are always up against it and in the Premier League that is dangerous."
New signing Declan Rice has impressed since his move from West Ham, and Arteta praised him, but noted the efforts of the home side, explaining: "He was outstanding, but the whole team was as well. Rice gave us the momentum in the moments the team needed it.
"It is a beautiful thing how these turn around and we won the game.
"We have been so dominant. Against Fulham it was a similar story. The team deserves more. When I see a team with that will to win, the eagerness to go and go, it is beautiful."
Arsenal travel to Everton in their first match back from the international break.
