Tottenham v Everton - Premier League LIVE

Two first half goals moved Tottenham into the Champions League spots as they beat Everton 2-1 on Saturday afternoon at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham needed a win as they looked to leapfrog Manchester City, away after their World Cup club duties, and move into fourth spot.

Everton meanwhile continue to rebuild after their 10-point deduction, and while they started the day seven points clear of the drop, a win would take them past Crystal Palace and into 15th.

Tottenham scored two early goals as Brennan Johnson and then Heung-min Son scored before the game was 20 minutes old, and despite a late first-half push from Everton, they went into the tunnel 2-0 ahead.

In the second half, Dominic Calvert-Lewin had an early goal chalked off for a foul in the build-up from Andre Gomes, only for the former Barcelona man to score in the 82nd minute from a corner.

Ange Postecoglou’s team then invited pressure but were able to hold on for three points.

Three points for Tottenham lifts them to fourth.

But the flag is up. Seconds left, but Spurs look far from safe.

Nobody is there and Everton race back up the other end, and Danjuma tries another effort, but it flies over.

Spurs will probably be sitting back for the duration now.

The forward will be asked to give Everton some hope, and Pickford sends on long from the halfway line, summing up the lack of ideas.

Pickford smartly down to his right to beat away the winger's shot and he stops his side going 3-0 down.

He replaces Sarr, who has done well today, as you'd expect. The Argentine should offer more going forward.

The away side need to start chasing it soon, because Tottenham are now relatively compact.
