Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah described Anfield as “home” after he scored his 100th goal for the club at the stadium.
There may once have been some doubt that he would hit the milestone given his relatively recent contract standoff, but he ultimately elected to stay with Jurgen Klopp, and his goal against Brentford was the winner, and 185th goal in 301 appearances for the side.
This campaign has been a difficult one for Liverpool but they are now putting the pressure on Manchester United and Newcastle United above them in the race for the Champions League spots as the season comes to a close.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Salah acknowledged the importance of getting all three points.
He said: “We need to keep winning so that was the main thing for us today. I’m glad that we did. Nothing mattered more than the three points. We just need to keep going.”
The 30-year-old discussed reaching 100 goals at Anfield, and he added: “It means a lot to me. I feel at home here. I am happy. We just need to finish the season in the best possible way."
He now has 30 goals for the season, and has scored in nine consecutives games
“It's something that makes me proud,” he remarked. “I work really hard and everybody knows that, everybody sees that. I am motivated to keep breaking records and winning games.
“We take it game by game, we will just see. We don’t want to think further, we will see what will happen.
"We have improved in the last couple of weeks, we have won six in a row, we’ve had a couple of clean sheets which is really important for us. We are more stable at the moment which we need to carry on."
