Virgil van Dijk left out of Southampton squad for second consecutive game

Virgil van Dijk has been left out of the Southampton matchday squad for the second consecutive game as rumours swirl about his future.

Van Dijk handed in a transfer request over the summer to try and force a move to Liverpool only for the club to reject his request.

He returned to the first time but he has now been left out of the starting XI for the last three matches and has been out of the squad for the last two.

The latest reports suggest that rather than join Liverpool in January Van Dijk will instead sign for Premier League leaders Manchester City.

For Spurs Danny Rose and Serge Aurier start as the two left-backs as Mauricio Pochettino continues his rotation policy.

Harry Kane starts up front looking to end 2017 as the top goalscorer for the calendar year.
