A drab goalless affair with West Ham saw Manchester United seal second in the Premier League - their highest finish since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2012-13.
Jose Mourinho made eight changes for the clash at London Stadium, but few fringe players made an impact as Man United prepare for an FA Cup final on May 19.
The visitors were wasteful in front of goal, despite having 16 attempts, meaning they have now gone two games without scoring for the first time in two years.
A rare moment of excitement saw Mark Noble square up to Paul Pogba late on, and the West Ham skipper was perhaps lucky to escape red after putting his hands on the Frenchman’s face.

TALKING POINT

Has this season been good enough for Jose Mourinho? Finishing second is no mean feat, and of course it’s a massive improvement on last season. Perhaps the FA Cup final next weekend will be the decider of this, but it’s hard to see – particularly in light of the amount of money spent by Mourinho on his team. What he can do is work hard over the summer to come back ready to challenge Manchester City.

MAN OF THE MATCH

Marko Arnautovic was one of few players of note in an otherwise dull game. The Austrian had a few chances and made light work of Chris Smalling in defence for United, but didn’t get the support he needed from his team-mates.

PLAYER RATINGS

West Ham: Adrian 7, Rice 6, Ogbonna 6, Cresswell 7, Zabaleta 6, Kouyate 6, Noble 6, Masuaku 6, Joao Mario 7, Lanzini 7, Arnautovic 8. Subs: Carroll 6.
Manchester United: De Gea 7, Lindelof 6, Smalling 5, Jones 6, Valencia 6, Ander Herrera 6, McTominay 7, Shaw 6, Lingard 7, Sanchez 7, Pogba 6. Subs: Rashford 6.

KEY MOMENTS

88' - Mark Noble is extremely lucky to get a yellow card there after going for... shall we call it a scratch at Paul Pogba? Pogba is also booked. He probably also deserves it.
