Chelsea to give Conte new contract and transfer green light
Chelsea will try to ward off interest from Inter Milan, who are offering Antonio Conte £12.5m a year to move back to Italy. The Blues will make Conte the highest paid manager in the Premier League and give him whatever he needs in the summer transfer window. They will start by targeting Romelu Lukaku, Virgil van Dijk and Tiemoue Bakayoko. Oh, and they will also bump Eden Hazard's wages to £300k a week to keep him away from Real Madrid
Paper Round's view: Few managers have had as impressive a start to a Premier League career as Antonio Conte, and given Chelsea have the money and the memory of Jose Mourinho's miserable final season, they have the motivation to keep the Italian for the future. Lukaku, Van Dijk and Bakayoko would give Chelsea more strength in depth, assuming they don't lose too many of their own players.
Man City start clear-out with Zabaleta exit
Pep Guardiola has started his second clear-out of deadwood and unwanted players at Manchester City by sending Pablo Zabaleta to West Ham. City are also anticipating departures including some or all of Kelechi Iheanacho, Jesus Navas, Willy Caballero, Gael Clichy, Bacary Sagna, Yaya Toure, Joe Hart, Eliaquim Mangala, Wilfried Bony, Samir Nasri and Jason Denayer.
Paper Round's view: Guardiola is a man with higher ambitions than making do with existing squad members, and he has the money available to make sure he doesn't have to compromise. Of the players mentioned above, only Kelechi Iheanacho has the potential to be worth keeping, but it is understandable that Guardiola might want a more experienced understudy for Gabriel Jesus.
United fear Griezmann wage demands
Following the revelations in Football Leaks that Zlatan Ibrahimovic earns £367k a week at Manchester United, there are concerns at Old Trafford that Antoine Griezmann - and others - will raise their wage demands accordingly. There had been a belief that the wage ceiling at the club was £300k a week, but the recent leak might mean United can't stretch to players like Griezmann.
Paper Round's view: This should have little effect on any negotiations. If United are after Griezmann, the chances are that both parties are already well aware of the kind of demands that will be made by the player's representatives. The more worrying possibility for Griezmann and others may be that they want to keep their details relatively discrete, but don't believe they can do so at United.
Wenger staying at Arsenal
Arsene Wenger is to stay at Arsenal next season, according to the Express, with the club's transfer targets including Riyad Mahrez and Middlesbrough central defender, Ben Gibson. Arsenal face competition from Paris Saint-Germain for Mahrez, while Liverpool and Chelsea both want Gibson to shore up their central defence.
Paper Round's view: Arsenal edged closer to a top-four finish, and that could be essential if they are to compete with PSG - certain to have plenty of cash for wages and transfer fees - as well as Liverpool and Chelsea, the new Premier League champions. Even then, Wenger might find it hard to attract his top targets given his position at the club is clearly uncertain.
