Manchester United confirm Juan Mata surgery, reports suggest season over
Manchester United confirmed on Friday evening that Juan Mata had undergone surgery on a groin injury, with reports suggesting he will miss the rest of the season.
Reports surfaced on Friday evening that Mata would miss the rest of the season before United confirmed that he had undergone groin surgery.
They did not specify how long he would be out for, only saying that there would be a further update.
However most reports, including Daniel Taylor of the Guardian say that Mata could be out for the remainder of the season.
Mata was not mentioned as one of the United players missing for the weekend's game against West Brom when Jose Mourinho had his press conference, with Chris Smalling and Phil Jones suffering 'long-term' injuries whilst on England duty.
Paul Pogba is also out injured whilst Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Ander Herrera are both suspended.
