Paul Pogba reportedly 'passes medical' as United and Juventus crawl to end of transfer saga
ByTNT Sports
Manchester United are set to close in on the world record signing of Paul Pogba after claims on Friday afternoon that he has passed a medical.
On Friday morning ESPN reported that the biggest deal of this - or any other - summer is close to the final step, with the 23-year-old to undergo a medical after the two clubs agreed a fee of £95 million, plus £20 million to be paid to Pogba's agent Mino Raiola.
NBC then later reported that Pogba has passed his medical in Los Angeles ahead of the move.
The fee is somewhat less than initially reported: £95 million, the reduction having been agreed due to Raiola's huge fee for brokering the most expensive transfer ever.
"Sources say the three parties have now struck a deal, with United negotiating to pay Raiola less than the initial figures and Juve set to pay the tax on the deal," the ESPN report claims.
Deal agreed?
There had been a clear development on Thursday evening when multiple sources reported that United are now within touching distance of re-signing the player who left for a small compensation fee when his contract expired in 2012.
Just after 4pm on Friday, The Guardian reported that United were:
preparing the contracts and documents to finalise the signing of Paul Pogba from Juventus for €110m (£93m) plus add-ons.
The paper added that Juve were poised to officially accept the bid from United – although the matter of Mino Raiola’s agent fee, reportedly as high as €25m, and the structure of added fees still needs to be resolved.
Within minutes, ESPNFC reported that United had agreed to pay €120m for the player, and:
are now hoping to come to an agreement over the final fees in order to clinch the deal by this weekend.
Although the reported transfer fee is slightly different, both sources are unanimous in declaring that it is only the fine details which are still to be resolved and United are now closer than ever to signing the France star.
