Arsenal’s Mathieu Debuchy joins Bordeaux on loan for rest of season
Mathieu Debuchy has signed for Bordeuax on loan as he bids to get into France’s squad for Euro 2016.
The Arsenal full-back, who has struggled to find a regular spot in the first team at the Emirates, was linked with a move to Manchester United earlier on deadline day, but manager Arsene Wenger reportedly blocked the switch.
So the 30-year-old heads to France for the remainder of the season.
With Louis van Gaal short of defenders, Debuchy had been touted as a surprise candidate to fill the void as he would have preferred to stay in the Premier League.
Arsenal have also confirmed the loan exit of striker Yaya Sanogo, who cut short his time at Ajax after failing to impress.
Sanogo has joined Championship club Charlton - where Alex Song and Francis Coquelin both impressed during previous loan spells.
