Arsenal are trying to engineer something here at the death, but Liverpool are stubborn and resolute.

Sterling runs in behind Gibbs and is found by Coutinho's pass. The youngster shurgs off Gibbs' challenge to bear down on goal. Szczesny is off his line in a flash to make the save. Almost the hat-trick for Sterling.

Luis Suarez departs without a goal, but he has been key in this performance. Iago Aspas will get five minutes at the end of this match.

Liverpool are very regimented at the back, sitting with two banks of four as Arsenal look to try and find a gap to exploit. Suarez waits to lead the counter...

The hosts are now looking to take the tempo out of the match. They know the result is wrapped up, but they're content with keeping the ball.

The Ox is again very busy, this time dropping out wide to hug the left touchline and move forward. His cross is a dangerous one from the byline but there’s nobody to aim at in the penalty area.

Suarez leads a Liverpool counter with a number of Arsenal players committed forward. Sterling is in support, but you get the feeling from the moment that he picks it up that Suarez isn’t going to pass. The striker cuts inside from the left and attempts to beat Koscielny before shooting, but the defender makes the challenge.

Sterling gives away a corner under pressure from Gibbs. Cazorla’s set-piece is hit too deep and is headed away by Flanagan. Liverpool looking to see out the game now.

Gerrard is the man to make way for Ibe. The Kop hero runs over to Suarez, handing the Uruguayan the armband before taking his seat on the bench.

Toure needlessly sends the ball into touch under no pressure at all and receives a real earful from Gerrard. The defender is full of apologies, but the England captain is not happy with the Ivorian.

Liverpool are preparing another change. Young Jordan Ibe is warming up on the touchline.

Suarez is still working away, constantly causing the opposition defenders trouble. It’s not often that Liverpool score and Suarez doesn’t get on the scoresheet.

Arteta drills the free-kick towards the far post, drawing a smart stop from Mignolet who saw it late. The keeper beats it away with an outstretched left hand.

Flanagan concedes a free-kick and is very lucky not to go into the book. The defender appears like he wants to shield the ball but almost stamps on Wilshere’s leg.

Wilshere really does look in some pain – he may be winded. And Gerrard, as you’d expect, looks like butter wouldn’t melt.

Gerrard catches Wilshere, sending him crashing to the floor with a heavy body check. That may have been payback for Wilshere’s late challenge on the Liverpool captain earlier in the match.

Steven Gerrard brings down Oxlade-Chamberlain in the penalty area and concedes a penalty. Arteta steps up, sending the ball down the middle to grab a consolation goal for his side.
