FULL TIME: BRAZIL 0-2 SPAIN

Spain win the group with three wins out of three and meet whoever finishes third in Group A or B, while Brazil must wait, but if New Zealand fail to beat France by five and Canada fail to beat Colombia, they too will progress.

90+18' AND STILL WE GO ON

The Brazil players must be done-in.

90+17' WHAT A GOAL! BRAZIL 0-2 SPAIN (PUTELLAS)

Bonmati, just inside the box, lays back to Caldentey, who goes back one more for Alexia, and from 25 yards, well left of centre, she sweeps a gorgeous outswinger that spins in off the far post like it's nothing. Verily it is not nothing.

90+15' BUT HERE THEY COME, AND MIGHT THIS BE A FINAL CHANCE?

Ana Vitoria has space and flips a decent ball over the top for Gabi Nunes, but before she can bump a header at goal, Aleixandri nips in and nods back to Misa.

90+14' AND THERE SHE IS AGAIN!

Abelleira shoots from distance and again it's the centre-back who blocks; meantime, Antonia, wearing the armband after Marta's red and hopping about after hurting a thigh, goes down again and this will be it for her. My sense is she suspects this is her tournament because she's in floods of tears, her manager also on the verge. Brazil are down to nine.

90+13' IF I'M THE MANAGER OF A WSL SIDE

I'm taking a very serious look at Tarciane. She's been brilliant today, strong, intelligent and disciplined.

90+11' HANG ON

Brazil win a free-kick on halfway and by the standard, this is a chance. Yasmim's delivery finds and Gabi Nunes' chest almost falls nicely for Ana Vitoria on the edge, but the ball runs away from her and Spain bring it clear.

90+10' AGAIN, SPAIN MOVE IT ABOUT AROUND THE EDGE OF THE BRAZIL BOX

But when they find Caldentey on the edge, she punches a curler over the top.

90+9' JAPAN HAVE BEATEN NIGERIA 3-1

They finish second in the group and progress to the quarter-finals. Brazil still look likely to qualify as one of the best third-place finishers.

90+7' IT'S WALKING PACE FOR SPAIN NOW

Then Putellas sticks another ball into the box, Yasmim heading clear, then Spain win a corner and take it short along the by-line, Caldentey cutting back for Aleixandri, whose shot is wide.

90+5' ANTONIA RETURNS

If it's a muscular thing, that makes no sense because she might make things worse, turning a short period out into something more severe, but if it's cramp she'll make do.

90+4' BRAZIL HAVE DEFENDED PRETTY WELL TODAYgabi

But they've lacked creativity in midfield and composure in attack, taking the wrong decisions when in decent positions.

90+3' ANTONIA HOBBLES OFF

But with her team already down to 10 and with all their subs used, I'd expect her to soon return.

90+2' ANTONIA GOES DOWN AGAIN

She looks in pain, but might just have cramp; that'll be at least another minute added on.

90+1' WE'LL HAVE 16 MINUTES OF ADDED TIME

Brazil can still save themselves.

90' CALDENTE SLIDES DOWN THE SIDE OF THE BOX

For Paralluelo, who collides with Antonia, sticking knee into thigh; both take treatment, and the game continues.

88' YASMIM SWERVES A FREE-KICK INTO THE BOX

It's headed away to the edge, and from there, Adriana flings herself into a hopeful shot from distance, the ball flying away somewhere towards Le Touquet.

87' CHANGE FOR BRAZIL

Gabi Nunes replaces Yaya, their final shot at sorting themselves out.

86' ELSEWHERE

It's still Japan 3-1 Nigeria. nadeshiko are looking good.

84' AGAIN, LORENA GOES DOWN

this time, she's clutching a shoulder not a rib, but again she continues.

82' MONTSE TOME BLOCKS YASMIM FROM TAKING A QUICK THROW

She's booked.

81' AGAIN, SPAIN PROBE

Before Del Castillo's crosses is taken away from Paralluelo by the excellent Tarciane, but this time there's no celebration. Brazil do, though, get the corner away.

79' BUT WHAT'S THIS?!

Ana Vitori barges through Codina and she's away at inside-left with a teammate square in the middle. But she takes a touch inside that cuts off the angle for the square-ball, Aleixandri blocking it, then Yasmim's effort at picking the same pass is intercepted superbly by the sliding Alexia. Warning for Spain, hope for Brazil!

78' SPAIN WANT THE SMACK LAID DOWN

They're pushing for a second goal rather than hold on to their first and see out time. They look more likely to get it than Brazil do an equaliser.

76' SPAIN KEEP FORCING CORNERS

And though they can't make anything of them - yet? - Brazil can't score with the ball pinging about their box. Abelleira manages to put the latest effort over the bar and out of play.

75' COLL DEPARTS, GRINNING

Replaced by Misa.

72' COLL IS DOWN HAVING TAKEN A WHACK TO THE FACE

she seems to find it fairly amusing, though.

70' ELSEWHERE

Japan now lead Nigeria 3-1 and look set to go through in second place, while if Brazil lose, they'll need to wait and see what comes to pass in the evening fixtures, needing Canada and New Zealand to not beat Colombia and France respectively.

68' GOAL! BRAZIL 0-1 SPAIN (DEL CASTILLO)

More Spain possession, then Caldentey crosses from the left and Lorena dives to shove away, but the ball falls perfectly for Del Castillo, who runs home from a few yards. Brazil are in all sorts.

67' ANOTHER MASSIVE CHALLENGE FROM TARCIANE

Who wins a challenge without touching the ball, earning her side a goalkick. At just 21, she looks to have a huge future - though it's also so that tournament performance does not always equate to general quality.

66' THIS HAS NOT BEEN IMPRESSIVE FROM CodinaSPAIN

And though they've rested various of their best players, they've not improved since bringing on some of their best, nor were they great against Nigeria.

64' A BALL INTO THE BOX

And Lauren's touch is a little heavy, so Coll dives at her feet and wears a knee to the head. She takes treatment, and Brazil won't mind that at all.

62' BRAZIL ARE DOING A DECENT JOB

They've restricted Spain to very little this half.

61' THOSE CHANGES TOOK A WHILE

But Yaya is fine.

58' TWO CHANGES FOR BRAZIL

Off go Kerolin, who looks to have a bit of something - I'm surprised they don't want her on as an outlet - Tamires and Duda Sampaio, with Yasmim, Jhennifer and Thais coming on. Spain try Bonmati and Alexia for Patri and Hermoso.

56' SPAIN ATTACK DOWN THE LEFT

And when the ball comes into the middle, Caldentey fining Carmona, the cross is headed behind while Patri and Yaya collide - if I'm honest, the Brazilian made that happen then stayed down - and my guess is both will be fine.

53' LORENA IS DOWN AGAIN

She must be on quite some pain and I wonder if, at some point, the ref will have had enough of her stopping the flow of things, but she's doing a great job

51' NOW THEN!

Kerolin wins the ball as Spain fiddle a short corner and streaks clear, drawing defenders to her before squaring to Ludmila, but the square pass is a little slow and a little behind her, so that when the shot comes it's from the edge and Coll flaps clear easily enough. But Brazil maintain pressure, Vitoria Yaya catching Patri, but Aleixandri does just enough as Kerolin shoots and Coll saves again, close to her feet.

49' LOVELY CROSS FROM BATLLE

Teased into the corridor. But Paralluelo opts for leaping lunge, looking to poke home a volley, when a header might've done the necessary. She makes no contact with the ball, and the chance vanishes.

49' BRAZIL ARE SITTING SO DEEP

Inviting pressure. Surely they need to get up a bit, so they're not spending the entire half defending?

47' ON THE PLUS SIDE FOR BRAZIL

Lorena is back out and did most of the talking in the pre-half huddle/

46' TWO CHANGES FOR SPAIN

And they won't much help Brazil: Caldente and Paralluelo replace Garcia and Navarro.

46' WE GO AGAIN

This is a huge half for Brazil, who might well go out with a defeat.

HALF-TIME: BRAZIL 0-0 SPAIN

Things were going alright for Brazil, but they must now try and eke out a draw with 10 players.

45+8' ABELLEIRA WILL FLIP THE FREE-KICK FROM THE EDGE

And it's a decent effort too, but Lorena plunges across her goal to save - she's hurt, but she's still doing her job.

45+6' MARTA IS SENT OFF!

Oh dear, this is so, so sad. With the ball high on the edge of the box, Marta leaps into an attempted clearance as Carmona looks to nod away, missing ball and catching player on top of the head. The ref wastes no time in brandishing the red card and it's impossible to argue because that was a wild, reckless and dangerous challenge that could have separated head from shoulders, and what a tragedy that one of the greats of the game, a pioneer and a legend, departs the world stage, leaving her team in colossal trouble in tears. This game.

45+5' SPAIN WIN ANOTHER CORNER

And Brazil half-clear it, but goodness me, what is this?

45+3' PATRI SWINGS IN A GORGEOUS CROSS

And Navarro steals away from her marker. But just as she looks set to nod home the opener, the ball bouncing nicely in front of her so all she need do is guide it inside the far post. But she can't impart a requisite quantity of brow to ball, and the chance vanishes without Lorena even having to make a save.

45' WE'LL HAVE SEVEN ADDITIONAL MINUTES

Lorena still looks uncomfortable.

44' LORENA TOOK A BIT OF TREATMENT DURING THE DRINKS BREAK

It looked like a rib injury, so did most likely happen when Tarciane clattered her. She goes down again and I'm not sure she'll finish this match.

44' NIGERIA HAVE PULLED A GOAL BACK

They now trail Japan 2-1.

43' AAAAAND AGAIN

Aleixandri sends a hopeful cross into the box, which Lorena claims easily. So far, she's been solid under the high ball.

40' AGAIN, SPAIN CAN'T GET THE BALL INTO THE BOX

So again it's a shot from distance, Patri unable to trouble Lorena.

37' LUDMILA GETS AWAY FROM GARCIA

But her cut-back is to no one.

37' BRAZIL ALLOW NAVARRO TIME AND SPACE DOWN THE LEFT

And she curves in a tasty cross, but Garcia can only glance her header wide.

35' TARCIANE IS PLAYING WELL

She pegs it after Garcia, slides in to make a fine challenge, then wears the retaliatory foul and Brazil get the ball away.

33' ELSEWHERE

Japan now lead Nigeria 2-0.

30' IT'S TAKEN A WHILE

But it feels like the pattern of this game is now set, Spain probing and Brazil looking to defend deep then hit on the break; jogo bonito it ain't. Anyroad, Batlle crosses well from the right but no one in the middle gambles, so the ball flies out and we take a cooling break.

28' SUDDENLY SPAIN ARE MOVING

Given space, Hermoso shoots from distance, Coll doing well to dive and shove around the post.

27' BUT LOOK AT THIS!

The corner is headed back at back post and Aleixandri has a swing at it, Antonia blocking, then Navarro absolutely thrashes a shot that looks in for all the world, but on the line, Tarcian makes a sensational block!

25' TARCIANE CONCEDES A CORNER

Spain's delivery hasn't been great thus far.

25' SPAIN LOOK VULNERABLE

USA, in particular, will be fancying themselves.

22' BRAZIL COUNTER

Ludmilla knows the space is in behind, playing a pass into space for Kerolin, but just as she looks to be in, Aleixandri slides in with a desperate but excellent last-ditch challenge.

20' HERE COME SPAIN AGAIN

Carmona advances from left-back and, with no one closing her down, tries a shot from distance ... which wafts over the bar.

18' WE SEE A REPLAY

But of Lorena taking a clatter from Tarciane, earlier in the match. Perhaps it's an overhang from that, but either way she's ready to resume.

17' LORENA IS DOWN

I'm not quire sure why. So the teams take drinks - that sounds a fine plan, given they're in Bordeaux.

16' ELSEWHERE

It's Japan 0-0 Nigeria.

14' BALL INTO THE BOX

Lovely cushioned header back across from Patri for Garcia who heads home ... but the flag goes up and rightly so, Patri was offside when the origianl cross came in.

12' SPAIN

Didn't actually play well against Nigeria - they looked vulnerable at the back - but can anyone get enough of the ball to exploit the flaw?

10' ADRIANA AND MARTA COMBINE DOWN THE RIGHT

Then a ball down the line sets Ludmila away, her attempted square pass flicking off Codina ... and cracking the base of the near post before rolling away! That was not good defending, and Spain look vulnerable in behind.

9' LOVELY BALL INTO THE BOX FROM CARMONA

And Garcia, making a nice run between the centre-backs, is up ... but she mistimes her eap and can't introduce brow to ball.

8' THERE'S A BIT OF TEMPO TO THIS

And though Kerolin, who makes space, can't find Marta, she looks a threat.

6' NO IT DOESN'T

The ref changes his mind and awards a goalkick.

5' NOW BRAZIL ATTACK

Tarciane breaking down the right, then a lofted ball in behind allows Marta to win a corner off Abelleira ... that yields another.

4' GOOD WORK FROM LORENA

She punches the cross clear well, taking a whack off Tarciane for her trouble; she gets her reward when the ref gives her a free-kick, and she'll be fine.

3' OBVIOUSLY

Spain are knocking it about, Brazil defending the box, and Carmona crosses nicely to the back post, the ball missing everyone, before Battle looks to pick a pass from the other side, winning a corner.

2' WHAT DO WE THINK

About Spain's primrose yellow shorts? I'm not sure.

1' AND OFF WE GO

Brazil get us under way.

15.59 RAFAELLE

Isn't in the Brazil squad today. She must be injured; hopefully it's not serious.

15.43PM ANTHEM TIME!

I enjoy both of these.

15.40PM HERE COME THE TEAMS!

I'm looking forward to this.

15.43 REAL TALK

It's not at all easy to see who beats Spain and how - the world champions are just so, so good - as evidenced by the quality of today's side, despite the six changes made. USA, though, have a chance, likewise Germany and perhaps France - but they'll have to do a madness to make it happen.

15.40PM OUR TEAMS

Brazil make seven changes following their defeat to Japan: Thais, Rafaelle, Yasmim, Angelina, Ana Vitoria, Priscila and Gabi Nunes drop out; Tarciane, Tamires, Ludmila, Duda Sampaio, Vitoria Yaya, Kerolin and Adriania come in.
Spain, meanwhile, are able to rest players, leaving out Hernandez, Paredes, Bonmati, Putellas, Paralluelo and Caldentey, with Codina, Carmona, Navarro, Guijarro, Hermoso and Del Castillo replacing them.

15.34PM THE STATE OF PLAY

Spain are already through to the last eight, and need a draw to top the group; Brazil need a draw to qualify, but if they lose may still move on on goal difference, if Nigeria beat Japan, and if they do not, will have to hope they finish as one of the two third-placed sides to progress.

15.29PM I'LL WRITE THESE DOWN

Then we'll have a think about how this might go.

15.28PM LET'S HAVE SOME TEAMS
